***Official Le Mans 24 Hours Thread***

Watching the Toyota crew running down the pit lane was one of the funniest things I've seen for a few days. :D

All it needed was Yakkity Sax playing in the background. :D

Toyota No7 is currently in 45th position, 22 laps behind. :(

Just catching up on what I missed. Can't believe one of the Toyota's punted the Delta Wing off :(

Edit: holy ****!!!! Just seen Davidson's crash too! Broken back! Hope he's ok.

What else have I missed?

Toyota No 8 officially retired.
Davidson on his way to the medical centre in the ambulance.

I'm wondering if the fin on the back of the car assisted in the car going airborne? It's one hell of a panel for the 200mph air to press against.

Those fins were apparently designed to stop this exact type of airborn accident! I called BS on it when they announced it saying it was just about advertising space, and I call BS on it now. It did nothing to stop Davidson getting airborn.

I'm still perplexed as to how you can walk away from an accident and then later find out you have a broken back? Is the human body even capable of doing that?

And Skeeter, just to play devil's advocate; it's all well and good saying that, but we don't know how the car would have reacted WITHOUT the rear fin. Could have been worse.

My dad checked himself out of hospital and walked down the road and got a taxi home while he had a broken back. He was so doped up on morphine he can't even remember doing it. I imagine adrenaline would have a similar effect.

And yeah, your right about the flip, but the whole idea of the fin was to stop cars that got sideways going airborn, which seemed to be exactly what happened. But it did show yet again how incredibly strong these prototype cars are.

There is various levels of broken. You can break your back without getting any spinal cord damage.

Ant has 2 fractured vertebrae. Could have been a lot worse. The moulded seats help a lot.
