Which Left 4 Dead should I get? 1 or 2?
I'd recommend buying L4D2 as it's supported better by Valve at the moment. L4D1 is awesome and I enjoy playing it still, but for new players, L4D2 is the one to get. Or get both and use L4D1 to get to grips with VS, as it's simpler and will make you a better L4D2 player in the long run.

guys not played for months, wanna fire it up and have a blast.... been any new maps or updates since one where we meet the old gang? or good maps to dl?

rip bill :(

Cracking game tbh... Anyways - I have "Left for Dead Add on Support" in the games library. When I try to run it it fails? Not sure what it is? Only thing I can think of is perhaps I joined a custom game with custom content and if the custom game is not available then this is why it fails to load...

Can anyone shed any light?

the addon support just lets you use custom maps/stuff, you don't actually "run" it just the normal l4d2 icon/program.

Had this since launch (pre order) and I'm yet to complete even start Hard Rain campaign! I really have played pitifully little of this game.

Was going to make a thread but thought I'd just post in here. I'm wanting to set up my own L4D2 server and was wondering if anyone could recommend a (UK based) server provider?

I've had a Multiplay (spit :p) L4D2 server before however I didn't have a very good experience with them, so any recommendations other than Multiplay?

One of my L4D servers and one of my L4D2 servers use Gameservers.com: http://www.gameservers.com/?ref=1631285

Also take a look at both GTX Gaming and INX. Used both in the past, but I like Gamservers at the moment.

Also feel free just to pop on my servers if you like. The IPs can be found in the first post of this thread.

I use INX Gaming and find them pretty good, but I have never used anyone else to compare them to. Really good interface and useability.

I might play a 20v20 if I'm so wasted I can't see properly.... but no, I like to play where some sort of skill is involved :D

Although, I tend to play l4d2 drunk anyway, so I probably won't ever play 20v20 :P

Thanks for the recommendations and thanks for the offer to pop onto your servers, I'll certainly have a look. :)

Much appreciated, two recommendations for INX Gaming, I think I'll start looking there :)

I've played 9v9, and the survivors were just a ball-of-doom. Uttterly impenetrable. Everyone made it to the end very single time, both teams. Playing Hard Eight is (much) more fun.

Oh believe me i've seen all survivors fail , again it comes down to great team work and the map being played

If survivors fail on what typically goes for large servers (ie badly balanced or not balanced at all) its because the survivors were terrible and probably all trying to rambo alone.

No amount of good teamplay can stop 20 guns working together even slightly. Besides, 20v20 just sounds like a cluster****... theres a point where 'more' becomes 'too many'.

True but i still find it fun :D:D , nothing like seeing 20 survivors getting crowded by hordes of zombies while being charged and burned by acid :D

Still though atleast these servers are a choice , you don't have to join them and most of them are non achievement

Anyone play 20v20 servers? , would be cool to play with u lot sometime :d

I do have an 8v8 server but a valve update broke it a while back and since then I haven't been too bothered about fixing it. Was quite fun learning how to balance it though. You have to beef the infected up a little bit to get over the fact that survivors have 8 guns, but a lot of these big servers just beef them up far too much so survivors stand next to no chance. Can't really be bothered to play on those myself.

I'd look at them, but just so that you know INX was the first company I used and although their technical support was pretty good, their servers did go wrong (hardware faults) a lot more often then Gamservers. GTX however was the best of both worlds really, just Gameservers have a better management system for multiple servers.

20v20 means you can make infected nicer to play. Choose any class on spawn for example.

I cant find the server now but one allowed choice of upgrades to each infected class. Smoker who can walk backwards once its trapped someone is probably most famous, get a few of those to snap off stragglers and theres nobody left soon.

Its funny to turn round and see half a dozen pinned down and a few being dragged into the distance never to be seen again
