It's the perfect buff for the smoker as i think too long a tongue would be over powered.

I disagree. The Smoker is nigh useless atm thanks to his tongue range. The game we had yesterday, couldn't even reach across the mall so i could try and pull someone off the other side.

Unless its increased in range you may aswell remove him completely. Compared with the Jockey and Charger for splitting teams up the Smoker is useless, there is still a delay until it grabs and paralyzes. If you want damage the Smoker is even more useless given his dps is half that of the Hunter if you ignore the huge delay where you drag them for tongue damage.

Rifles are already too numerous and powerful. Anyone who tries to refute this is an ignorant fool, the 4 Autoshotgun teams from L4D have been replaced with the 4 AK47 teams. Not to mention the strength of the Military Sniper Rifle. Since there are so many it would be nice if there was a plugin to limit weapons to 2 per spawn so you can actually get some variety on some teams. Smoker is practically useless vs anyone with an AK or Sniper Rifle unless his tongue range lets him keeps a bit further back behind a rooftop.

The smoker is still okay, its the Jockey who is useless. It is quite simply the WORST character to play.

It makes so much noise its hard to hide and it does very little strike damage
It is VERY hard to hit people because when you jump, you cannot see what your doing or control it then when you actually land a hit, it is slow to do any real damage AND its very easy to shoot him off.

The only fun part is wandering off the edge of buildings, but that kills you and just leaves them hanging.
You cant even get a kill because when you get them low on hits it incaps them and to do that you have to sit in a corner for about 2 mins waiting to incap someone. You cant even look around. Oh yeah AND when you drop off someone you have a HUGE wait till the next attack.

Utterly boring, hard to hit with and very little DPS, plus impossible to actually get a kill with. I mean WHY!!
The Jockey needs either another attack or more DPS

Er what?

The Jockey does exactly what he's suppose to. Move survivors into traps or split them up, the only problem with this is moving survivors onto Spitter Goo does less damage than it normally would (as it does with all infected). If you use the Jockey thinking you'll incap someone through damage you're going to be dissapointed.

The only thing i agree with is that his recharge is ridiculously long, there was no need to make it that long, especially when the recharge after you melee him is next to ****ing nothing so he bounces on your head immediately after.

The Smoker is next to useless. All he's good for is a shifty little pull on the last person down a drop.
 
Hmmm, I don't think the smoker is that under powered, as I don't think the Jockey is a pile of poo either...

It's all situational really, I agree that when the survivors have 4 AK's or 3 and the military rifle things get hard, but those guns are the best in the game with the possible addition of the combat shotgun.

I'm not a huge fan of the spitter or charger yet because I always seem to miss the charger and with the spitter it takes a perfect spot to get a good attack on otherwise it's a bit pointless.

Having said that, when it all comes together with those classes devastation usually ensues.

Link: I think the insanity servers are great and don't need changing other than the Tank spawn which you have done which is cool.

I was referring to the vanilla/public servers when I was asking to remove med kits and defib's from VS play. I assume that is all the servers with the standard "ocuk" search key.

Wether it is publics or Team VS or just a vanilla OcUK 4v4, I would much prefer no extra kits or defibs. It's just boring otherwise!

If you could do that, would be awesome!
 
are we gonna do a christmas eve l4d1 8v8? thought link had mentioned something like that!

That's the plan. If people can help me test it tonight though, to make sure more than 8 people can join it would be good. :)

And I'll look at removing defibs from the standard servers (and medkits if I can fix the fact it removes finale ones too :( ) after Christmas now.

Promaps is due out in the new year however for L4D2, so I'll look into implementing that on our servers at some stage.
 
My L4D2 is broken :(

I was busy creating a new spray, and when I tried to load up a map, I got a CTD. So I deleted all the spray files and now..... it's still not working. Nightmare.
 
Well, deleting local content and restoring it from my backup didn't work. Looks like this might not be as simple as I'd hoped :(

edit: uninstalled the programs I installed this morning, and still no good - then I deleted those L4D1 maps and it works. Lesson learned.

Yeah. The creators of those l4d1 maps/assets etc have admitted that a new update from valve made the game unstable with them installed.

Junked my xxxx x xxxxxxx xxxxx POS 8800GT + nvidia drivers and re-installed my X1900XT.

Worked straight away.

the jockey is the punishment infected, its what you should have to play as if you screw up with the charger or spitter.
