just got the achievement "what are you still trying to prove"only took about a week to get,piece of cake tbh:DThe game needs to be harder i think
 
Is anyone else here having problems with the game since the December 18th update? Everytime I try to play a game, single and multiplayer the game stutters and crashes to desktop every time. Before that my game was running perfect with no crashes at all. I haven't installed anything new either and all other games work fine. So weird.

It only happened to me once I'd installed the L4D1 stuff... But my game does stutter sometimes. I blame my graphics card for that though.
 
Yeah, thanks for breaking 8v8 tonight Link, abysmal server support as usual. Couldn't even be bothered to spend his own time fixing it for us...

:D Shame it was down though everyone, sorry to those who I spammed for the 8v8 and then we couldn't due to Link. I think he owe's everyone an apology!!
 
yeah, I successfully got loads of people ingame for an 8v8... I was feeling good about myself :) and then the server wouldn't allow more than 8 people to join :( oh well, had some good close 4v4 vs games :)
 
for those having CTD problems,

delete the l4d1map vpks from the addons folder and the additional pak_001 vpk or whatever it was, then verify integrity cache, then the CTDs should go away.
 
Re-installed Windows 7, let Windows download all the shizzle and 8800GT drivers.

Now I crash as soon as loading finishes for a game.

Had it with Nvidia for ****s sake!

I am so sorry for spending ages trying to work out why it wasn't working, then giving up! :(

Ah well, I'll look for fixes when I have some time. Will probably be in the new year now.

In the meantime, I'm gonna try seeing if the L4D1 8v8 server still works, so people with both games (or just l4d1 ;)) can still play 8v8.

Will do, hopefully a really easy fix is found soon :)

After that attempt at sorting out an 8v8, I must have had about 10+ chat windows open, was kind of annoying as I still need to alt-tab every map change, couldn't quickly do that with millions of windows around :)

Also, could people stop playing VS on dead centre, I really do not enjoy any of those maps :(

Would you rather people play Swamp Fever :p

Centre is a decent campaign at least, 4 maps with some decent attack spots. Although that Witch on the finale is getting a little tedious.

I do wish Valve would make cvars per map rather than general. Would make tailoring the campaigns much easier.

yes, I actually prefer swamp fever, should be played more.

my main issue with dead centre is how bugged the common is on the 3rd map, ruins all the fun when the hordes get stuck and you get to watch the other team walk through the map. and the finale has the worst spawn spots ever. oh yeah, and that witch needs more than one spot :|

also link, could you remove variable tank spawn location, it ruins the game when score is based on distance
 
Ooooh I had a question.

There are 2 Insanity servers at the moment and 4 publics that are vanilla, is this right?

I like the Insanity server for OCUK 4v4 games as it offers more challenge for the experienced players. Is there any chance of changing the vanilla servers to at least not have extra med packs like in the cevolink days?

That would be the only feature I would change about Vanilla versus is remove the extra med packs and replace with pills. It's just ridiculously easy otherwise, for everyone involved! L4D2 has so many extra med packs kicking about it's not even funny anymore. Parish campaign is probably one of the worst!

Also, does any one find either playing Team VS or regular VS that it's a lot more difficult in L4D2 to in cap a whole team in one move? Partially because you can't hax the spawning anymore to guarantee "smoker, hunter, hunter, hunter" like in L4D. I have just seen it a lot less if at all in the new game. It's more gradual with a bit of luck bringing down a whole team now...

I find myself just wanting to have 4 in incapacitating classes at once sometimes which never happens anymore! It's still hard to time it perfectly, just a nice to have once in a while...

I always find this, you can get in a massive attack, incap 3 and bring them all down to about 50 hp while incapped, and the 4th is hobbling on 1hp and at this point, you just get to sit back and watch them pick themselves up while you watch your 30sec spawn counter tick down.... you back in time for a final attack to try and knock one down again, and the game gives you a boomer no where near any decent spawn points.... woooo :D

I don't know why I play at times, this game just frustrates me when I think about it seriously :)

Yes, it's frustrating, but how many times have you heard someone say, as a survivor, "right, they're all dead, let's make a run for the safe-house!" - it works both ways - I don't hear anyone complaining from that point of view:D

Haha, I like to say run for it... :) Seriously though, this game is only annoying with things like that when I'm already in a bad mood (which may have been caused by an annoying bug in the game or a really damn annoying team) other times you just sigh "oh well" and say gg over comms :)
