***Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread***

Is this actually worth buying? Kinda reluctant to pay £29.99 for something which looks remarkably similar to the previous game (which i own)

If you do buy it, do not get it from steam, instead check out the southern american rain forest and its competitor. They used to be just over half that price plus they come with the cd-key so you can activate it onto your steam account.

In all honesty it's not worth the money considering it is identical to L4D1 with 3 new infected characters. The **** poor lobby system is still there and the issue with rage quitters.

But if you play with good people it's great, we get just fine games in the OcUK community :)

Of course its worth buying, saying its similar is like saying MW2 is similar to MW1, of course it bloody is, at least this game built on the previous 1 with a lot of good stuff (and some very badly balanced stuff...), the only question is why you didn't get it over Christmas when it was on offer (at least twice :p).

And you are aware you can say 'Amazon' when you're referring to PC games right? Since OcUK don't sell them.

Do we need to force a connection to the OcUK Community servers now?

I tried a couple of times the other night to connect using sv_search_key ocuk but landed on other servers both times.

Forgot how enjoyable this game was after playing other stuff for a while. I've still got Hard Rain and the Parish to play through in campaign mode as well.

Try typing:

mm_force_dedicated_servers 94.23.222.136:29021, 94.23.222.136:29025, 94.23.222.136:29029, 94.23.222.136:29033, 85.234.148.165:27095

I think that'lll select one of the non-insanity servers for you though my syntax may be a bit off.

Played some VS mode games on PUG (yes I know). Always seems to be a team of people who know exactly what they are doing sitting waiting for 4 nubs to connect and then rape them while saying gg every bloody few mins.

I haven't see the appeal of VS mode so far (being infected - the respawn time is boring as hell) and you seem to just die so fast. Loads of rage quitters - I got left in 1 game with 3 bots against 4 good players (but they had a gg so :p - I'm no quitter). We always seemed to get raped coming out the safe room let alone anything else :o

And yes I've only just started playing L4D2 - really enjoyed campaign. In other modes I am a super nub and I'm still learning the mechanics of infected.

You're as well off playing in friends only games as the vast majority of public games can be a disaster, plus you'll see the appeal of vs. Head over here and add some of your fellow OcUKers with whom you can play :)

just wrap it is "" and remove spaces (just to make sure), think there's a few more servers aswell, I'll see if I can find my previous post

The quotation marks are only for putting it into a config file though are they not? For just typing them into the console you don't need them. Still though, it's very handy to have them as you do.

you really need to be playing VS with people you know, not sure if it's possible to actually have a fun VS game on pub, the amount of people raging on team VS is bad enough, and those guys choose to play on the same team

I've not bought MW2 either :P

I don't enjoy the vs mode on L4D1 so is there much point in me getting the second one just for that? I enjoyed the co-op campaigns though but never could find good teams of players to do them on the harder settings :(

you'll enjoy VS if you have people to play with :D

Well, L4D (1 and 2) is all about who you play with. Get a good squad of players around you and you'll have a blast. It is possible to have fun in public games - it's just that they're rarer and you need to have three crap games before you get one which is worthwhile.

That said, it's proving difficult to get an Ocuk Versus match up and running these days, compared to how it was a month ago.

A month ago everyone was off for Christmas, we're all back studying/working/whatevering now :p

I know I'll certainly be about less due to uni during the week and work at the weekend :(

3 crap games? Try about 10 for pub, 3:1 bad games:good games is a decent night on team vs

well I would play more vs games, but I prefer team. still think there's enough people about to get an insanity game going pretty quickly though, especially when I get invited by 3 people at the same time :D

Hahah that is exactly what we do. We all just sit there on vent chatting away destroying the other players whilst one of us just says gg every so often. Occassionally though you get a group of 4 decent guys who all join at the same time and its pretty obvious they are on coms.

3:1 is just my experience - perhaps my standards are lower than yours. But I do have to ask, you prefer team vs where you have a 3:1 ratio of bad to good, when there's ocuk games needing players.... what must the OCUK ratio be?

When you get three invites at the same time, that means there's three of us in an 8-man lobby, looking for five more :D

why not play T vs then?

If you're a group of 4 why play normal vs?

I prefer to play with people I know well, and we play well together. On ocuk games I get thrown in with decent players (most of the time) that I don't play with and don't know very well. Me,Tefal,Steve,Midnight,Defrag and sometimes Evil play together most days and we know our usual attacks so not much strategy has to be done... makes it a lot more enjoyable aswell :D
