The biggest thing from my point of view is that Intel has designed a CPU specifically for Apple.
I guess Apple aren't going to have released this without doing some form of market research.
not really impressed with the new release at all. Doesn't look too good and will it really sell that much? I guess Apple aren't going to have released this without doing some form of market research.
I hope Apple will do something like a MacBook Air, Take 2!![]()

They'll sell piles of the things, there's loads of photographers and other creative types out there still using 12" G4 powerbooks on the road because apple didn't replace it in the line up. They'll all buy them...
Do you honestly believe that? Intel designed a smaller CPU because shrinking die-sizes is what happens with CPUs, and they're letting Apple have it first. The biggest thing from my point of view is that Intel has designed a CPU specifically for Apple.
Having an Apple logo on it will be more than enough reason for a lot of people.
It's not so much 'the best computer for the job' but 'the must have computer for the job'. You can just imagine all the Hollywood hotshots running around with one of these.
The idea behind the actual product is excellent. Some of the things they have done with the whole 'air' thing are really great - especially borrowing a cd from another computer. But the look of the product just doesn't get me. It just doesn't ooze class like the MacBook Pros do. If anything the shape of it is a little odd looking.
indeed - i definitely never would have any need for it but it just doesn't seem as slick as apple kit usually is!
I guess now I may just concentrate on my imac v mac pro debate! When is the next big apple event where spec bumps are announced?
That would be WWDC, June.
I still can't identify their target market, it's nearly an identical spec to MacBook except it is 900g lighter, slightly thinner but lacks an optical drive, several ports and costs a lot more. I would have a very hard time justifying buying this over a regular MacBook. Oh and if you ignore the 200Mhz difference between the two versions of the MacBook Air you are esentially paying over £800 for a 64GB SSD!
So is the casing sealed? i.e. no DIY RAM or HDD upgrades? It's reported that you can't remove the battery.
