*** Official Mass Effect 2 Thread ***

You only need to scan about 10-20% of the planets, no-where near enough upgrades to use it all.

I scanned all but three systems to Poor/Depleted & ended up with ~1.5mil of spare resources.

Just look for an Element Zero guide and scan those planets, you'll get the rest of the resources needed on the way.

How come I have scanned almost the whole galaxy now (about 70% at least) and still I have not got enough of Platinum for all my upgrades?

EDIT: Maybe I am doing something wrong, I only get like 2-3k per resource when I scan.

I use 10-20 probes on 'Rich' planets, how many are you going through?

If you've got sensitivity buttons on your mouse I highly suggest using them to up the DPI when scanning, makes it much quicker.

I think I got all upgrades but Shotgun & SMG to max (4/5 of both of these missed a couple of upgrades/couldn't afford them)

Scanning planets for resources - this is the worst idea ever, I got bored of this after 2 minutes, and there are so many planets to be scanned :(

Yeah very boring indeed, fortunatley you don't need to do loads of it. I'd imagine any unused resources will be carried over or converted in to credits or xp in ME3 so if you've got loads of surplus it probably wasn't a complete waste of time.

I normally use about 10-15 I think until it shows "Poor"

I think I am near the end of the game now as my squad is almost full now, only 1 more member to get (and I have done all side missions for all my squad members). And I got almost all upgrades anyway so I will scan remaining few planets and complete the game as it is.

Remember there's 4 'Star Maps' on Illium to get access to 4 more Systems :)

Behind the Asari who is doing medical experiments on Feros survivors.

I dont like how you dont earn enough money to purchase all of the upgrades in the game. I finished with ~49K but with two 75K upgrades left at the shops.

Going renegade and taking from people is probably the only way to earn enough money :(

You don't need all of them, but i guess if you're a collector and like to get everything in the game then it becomes an issue.

Yep Im a collector, I probed over 400,000 units of resources (for each of the 3 main resources and 100K of eezo), probing each planet I found to 'depleted', probably only probed half the planets as well!

On the bright side, you don't have to look for Element Zero on a second playthrough since you're given 50k, more than enough. Still, scanning planets is very tedious.

So, is there much benefit from transferring your character over from ME1?

I played the first on xbox and am getting ME2 on the PC.

Yes, there are multiple instances where your choices throw up NPC's to chat to. Its nothing major, but it helps the immersion.

If I were you, go to the ME1 PC Saves database and find a savegame which matches yours and use that.

There's solar system souvenirs around which are 500 or so credits and give access to more galaxies.I think Ilium(or however it was spelt) had like 4 for sale.

Yeah choices and a nice full experience of the story is it. You get upto 50k(+100k if rich) in cash and 10k resources for importing, but you get 200k cash and 50k cash (+25% exp) if you've finished the game once and started again. I imported a char on my second playthrough, encoutered a few things i didn't get the first time because of differing decisions, was pretty good.

Didn't realise you don't get enough money to buy all the upgrades. Just been buying anything in sight like in the ME1 :p Have to be more careful now.

Played the last 2 stages of ME1 again as a refresher, epic, and then imported and played the first 20 mins of ME2 last night, even more epic!

Don't like how the levelling system seems to be much less involved though. And I have to get used to actually having ammo again, hehe.

Completed this yesterday (im not gunna spoil anything) I know i have said this before but i did find a lack of team hud, customization and trade system such a let down. The armour upgrades were cool but i would have liked to see a graph of the stat changes that it makes when selecting the different parts. Also the lack of guns and abilities was getting a bit boring towards the end, I would have thought they would have expanded on this from the first, im pretty sure that ME had that spot on but then again it wasnt in EA hands then. Still a good game, good story and i enjoyed it but much prefered the first game a lot more.

The spoiler thread is for spoiling things :p

If i had to choose between the 2 i'd still go for this 1 over ME1s just because the amount of clutter was ridiculous and how to begin with the different gear was marginal at best. But they did remove far too much. At least some more gear and stats would've been nice. All you have to go on are the descriptions and they mostly sound the same.

Id like to take advantage of my new cards AA but I'm not sure exactly the best way to do it.
Tried setting edge detect x24 in CCC then running the game, but i don't think it worked as I'm still seeing jaggies. Am I missing something?
