**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

I Uninstalled this, This morning to Reinstall on my 1TB SSD G drive knowing the size of the new update to hit next week , My god am i having issues Re-Downloading keeps looping every 4-5GB So anoying

Getting there slowly tho

More bugs last night - aircraft not responding to steering on the ground and veering off to the right when trying to take off. Not P-factor as the settings are dialled down in options. Tried with my Logitech Flight Stick and the Xbox pad (after re-configuring both) and same thing.

Loaded up XP11 then FSX and joystick working perfectly.

Really beginning to think MS need to pull this and give it back to the developer to finish off. The forthcoming patch mentions nothing about autopilot or other control issues being fixed.

Mine did this initially - realised it was because when I mapped the throttle in a single engine aircraft, and when switching to a twin engine it had only mapped the left hand throttle so I only had one engine and a bit of a pull to the right. Same thing appended when I went to the 747 - had to manually map the other two engines...

Well much to my surprise my refund request has been approved so I will now retire from further discussion about the title. I fully intend to keep an eye on how things develop and would not rule out purchasing again in the future or if it is heavily discounted in a sale (eventually). The experience was not worth £60.

This will only get better over time...We all know there are issues right now but look at the size of the game...It should not of been released in this state to the public tho as it is

Yes, because that's what software companies do these days. They completely ignore reports from testers and release the game in a broken and bugged state anyway, because they know damn well people will still rush to buy the game and it then doesn't matter if they fix the bugs at a future time or not because they already have your money.

This has grated me and millions of other gamers for a long time, I'm sure. Gamers these days are beta testers. That's a fact. Patches are treated like some wonderful game updates that we should all be excited about which is ridiculous.

The bar for a 'finished' product has been lowered to the point that we now just expect it to be broken but buy it anyway. Pretty sad really but we've only got ourselves to blame.

TBF it hasn't happened to me often. I'm just going to stick to short flights until it's more stable.

I've just managed a couple of flight ok, and then had a crash.

I think it's the connecting/disconnecting of devices that's the issue, I'm using a bluetooth keyboard and xbox pad, seems that if the keyboard goes to sleep, touching a key to wake it up is an insta-crash. That's one of the issues listed for the patch so fingers crossed it gets fixed.

Yeah I noticed it was listed in the patch notes too. It's happened to me once when I tried disconnecting and reconnecting my xbox controller.

Most of my crashes have happened when closing the game which is obviously the least annoying time to get a crash but still not exactly the hallmark of quality software.

I'm glad I chose to get a month of Game pass to try this first. Oddly, this game doesn't seem to have any joystick profiles set so you have to manually setup the joystick. I followed a guide on youtube to find out how. The controls are almost impossible to use. The plane just swings madly around while the on screen yoke tries to follow my joystick input but fails massively. It is unplayable.

Not just that but it takes ages to load. Probably 10 minutes sometimes.

My Thusmatser T Flight Hotas 1 worked and everything was mapped right away

Just to balance it out a bit, i've had zero issues with the steam version and with the flight model set to realistic and my controls setup properly It's a blast and has been well worth the money. Within the first hour it trumped years of X-Plane 11 frustration.

Hope you guys get to the bottom of your issues or come back for another crack at it in the future when patches have been applied.

Thrustmaster hotas 4 purchased yesterday and 5 long hours of downloading and all is good! Had a good flight from Exeter over Dartmoor and around the coast and what can I say... love it!!! Doubt my missus will though..

*edit* one thing that’s annoying though - how do you set weather to be “local” as default? Seems to default to clear skies for me
