**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

I can't believe there have been no leaks (or have there?) on how much the performance is improved from multi-core usage. Just a few hours until we start finding new benchmarks I guess.

I'm sure Digital Foundry will have something up at some point, looking forward to see the Xbox Series X performance, as I intend to get one and ditch my PC for some fly time on the big TV!

I’ve been testing the update for the past couple of weeks on my own PC, equipped with an Intel Core i9-11900K and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, and the improvements are staggering even on top hardware. I use Microsoft Flight Simulator for benchmarks during our GPU reviews, and in the same section flying across Seattle, my frame rate has gone from an average of 45fps all the way up to 68fps. That’s more than a 50 percent leap with ultra settings enabled at 1440p.

900mb FTTP here, and getting 55mbps down.

Oh and it's eating all my GPU while downloading....I thought they fixed that...
130mb on a 150mb line, mines flying through it, at 93% now.

GPU is at 30% for me...

Just loaded up, great performance improvement so far!

Sat at Heathrow in the 787 and getting 45fps, all high at 1080 with an i7 9700k, 32gb ram and 980ti, very happy!

55fps flying low over London, before it would have been around 25-30fps

Good stuff :)

By that reckoning I should easy be busting 60fps at 1440 with a 3080

15GB downloaded in 3.5 hours. speed jumping between 0.4Mbps and 31Mbps. Reckon it'll take the rest of the night at this rate.

I don't really care how long it takes to download. I just want better performance in VR :p

I'm happy enough with how it looks and runs in pancake mode (on an R5 2600 & 3060 Ti), but VR performance just fails to consistently hit minimum acceptable performance. I followed a guide a while back which worked wonders, but it introduced stuttering which ruined the game completely. Hoping this update will be enough to make VR fun :D

If you have nvidia GPU, you can set frame limiter in Nvidia control panel specifically for MSFS which will stop you shooting for like 600fps in the downloader. Why they don't force a cap on it already I don't know.

It might encourage some folk to get this on PC that were put off by its depth; but if you can turn them off is there an issue? Surely its a good thing
No, just an observation that’s all. I just don’t want them to start neglecting the true sim side of it in an effort to make it more gamey.

Servers must really be getting hammered. My dl has dropped to 6 bloody mbps
