**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

As an almost PPL holder, the idea of a hyped up flight simulator that has excellent VFR capabilities can only be a good thing in terms of developing a new generation of enthusiasts for recreational aviation, particularly given the current state of the world and that fewer people will be drawn to it as a means to pilot based career.

Anyone sussed out a way to get earlier access either through vpn or other means?

I'm sure many others will be doing the same but I'm planning on taking our plane up this week and I'll film a side-by-side comparison of "real life" vs game just to see how accurate they've got it around my local bimble area - just need the weather to play ball as it's forecast to be a bit pants all week here :D

Sims are generally pretty good for us to practice instrument flying so looking forward to finally getting my hands on this!

Reviews are out.

Maybe it doesn't work in the sim too well but it's making me twitch they've added a white light for night flying!

And it's installing... 90GB download from the menu.

Which menu are you installing it from? I can't get it to load through the app in Windows, it just says we need to wait until release. I'm really not looking forward to a 90GB download on my connection. It's going to take ages.

Got the 1GB download done and it lets me launch ok but then asks for a disk?

EDIT
Trying again just installed the digital ownership

That didn't seem to make a difference..

I've just gone onto Game Pass and it's pre-loaded only around a GB.

Am I right in assuming that they're letting us download their launcher, and then come midnight we are all expected to fight for bandwidth to download the rest of the 150GB download?

If so, I can see problems arising :p

EDIT: Just worth mentioning... I didn't need to change any date/time/region to get it to pre-load

You're only getting the launcher. The full game downloads through the launcher interface. Changing region to Kiribati gets you into the interface to start the full 90GB download.

yeah everyone can download the launcher already (1gb) Change your windows region to kirbati, open the launcher and it should start the real download (about 96gb)

Ahhh I'm with ya now :D Thanks a lot :)

Do you know what time it'll be unlocked to play?
