**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

Do you think it’s a problem with the game? You know... considering theres plenty of people running the game with no issue?

(Sorry for the sass - couple of pints in :p)

Just got it to run long enough to take a nice flight to my folks house to take a screenshot. Paused in the right spot, went into the menus to change the camera....

'You have overstressed the airframe' Restart or return to main menu.

Seriously? it was paused in nice stable trimmed flight.

Crashes are usually dereferencing a null pointer which is just sloppy.

OK, I’m sorry I must apologise for the sass - it’s not a game that can be run perfectly very easily :p

But please keep playing with the settings as much as you can - I’m sure you’ll be able to get some sort of reasonable frame rate - if not, let us know what exactly happens and when and I hope that someone could reach out with some advice :)

I must admit the “dereferencing bug” that you mention is one I’ve not heard of before

Dang it, just had my first CTD!

Really impressed with the performance though. Just been flying around NYC online.

Rig spec in sig, 1440p High settings.

Well, it's just a CTD. You probably don't see the details unless you've got a debugger installed.

I did manage a short flight without a crash. Avoiding task switching seems to help, touch wood.

Having any kind of Bluetooth headphone connected seems to be a common cause of problems too.

Hope it gets patched up because it's great when it is working!

I did all the training today as a refresher. It starts at "this is an airplane, can you say aeroplane?" level of basic, and gets to navigation and flight patterns which is where I really wanted some help. Pretty comprehensive and simple training.

Had my first CTD when I decided to plug my ecig into a USB port to charge mid flight. Locked up and after a while CTD. that's not too bad given the scale of the thing and that it's been rock solid for me other than that.

Wish the training taught you how to fly the 747 properly as it's a real struggle.

I've got pretty good with the A320, just learning how to use the auto-pilot properly now.

The auto fill for the flight plan is really helpful for the casual like me, I just need to learn how to input the final waypoints for the approach, as the game only takes you so far, then you have to go on a long waypoint to get to the runway approach, which doesn't seem right, as I watched a video of a real pilot input the instructions to get the right approach.

Requested refund, was unusable on my PC. Crashed several times within moments of getting onto tarmac & was otherwise quite unstable. Pitty because I was well into FSX back in the day, had tons of DVD VFR installed from Game, downloaded weather addons once decent Internet speeds started to appear.

Installing latest drivers didn't help. Much rather carry on with Witcher 3 than sit watching loading screen then freeze, crash ad infinitum. Mix of low spec & gremlins me thinks. 1650 Super, Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB, nvme (used for 4K video editing on the whole), on auto detected medium, then lowwered some stuff. Enjoy!

OK flying 600 miles into the Sahara is a no go, My plane kept pitching upwards and no idea why. I have -20 on sensitivity but still.. Had to wrestle it.

I can only go on the streams I've watched but especially on the big airliners there seems to be a few issues with the autopilot and nav, etc. a few times they follow what the game is prompting or what they've set, etc. only to end up miles from where they should be or a few degrees off heading and so on. It is interesting watching the ones that are real pilots recover from it and the mentality they employ versus those who don't have the same experience or are over-hyping their real world credentials.
