**** Official Motorstorm: Apocalypse Thread****

It's up on UK store now, downloading before PSN goes down at half 4! :)

LOL, I just this second stopped looking. I couldn't see it anywhere. Is it PS+ only though?

EDIT: No, it's not PS+. 1206MB. And pass. Didn't feel any emotion at all during this. Split/Second was much better IMO.

I quite enjoyed it, although not keen on using the bike, much prefer the car. Graphics are decent, however the 3D was irritating my eyes far too much so I turned it off. Might rent it rather than buy.

Cant help but agree - this feels like its gone backwards since MS:PR which was an awesome game (still think PR looks better than this). The AIs just as evil as previous MSs (pre-programmed to ram you constantly to force you off line) but because of the tighter courses it becomes far more of an annoyance, especially as around every corner theres a bit of scenery ready to wreck you (though I guess learning the course does help, but this feels far more against you, especially the litter and mess etc).

Boost feels very funny (I miss the 5 second prompt!) and recharges way too quickly to make smart use of it work for you. Also the sound effects sound awful to me...

I just didnt derive any enjoyment and any wow moments Ive seen while playing Spilt/Second and thats a game I dont rate highly either, because it has to add such setplays to make the races interesting, which to me seems the wrong way to go about things...

The MS:PR beta demo (which was released many months before the game and a subsequent finished demo) made me buy the game, this demos pretty much cancelled my pre-order :(. MS just shouldnt be set in such a tight urban environment, it was always having to win me back from the setting...

P.S. Who thought of rollcage when they saw the tunnel and tried to drive on the roof? Only me? :p

I though the same thing even tried to drive a ring around the tunnel lol.
My first impressions of this demo is "Fail" does not excite me like Motorstorm 1 i'm hoping its just the demo and the race course they chose sucked. But it seemed to slow, the audio was dry and the track design was not motorstorm.

Any of the people who played it at the Beta Rooms or are Beta testers want to reassure us - otherwise Im gonna cancel my preorder this weekend :(

Cancelled...

Realised that the demo didnt feature any different routes that favoured particular vehicles like previous versions did (only small route was the collapse at the start of second lap when you go over the storm drain before you go in it again IIRC).

Gonna pick up Spilt/Second cheap and maybe this when it falls to sub £20

Nope both the PR ones were awesome - and none were as bad as this demo, especially after Spilt/Second came out and pretty much used the same mechanic to much better effect. Most reviews seem to agree that as a spectacle its great, but the driving component has taken a back seat...

In my experience the demos have never done the full game justice. The PR ones were particularly bad, if i remember correctly the first one was from code nearly a year old or something.

I agree with that, but this ones so bad that the new MS seems to be mediocre. Have you tried it, as the way the cars drive is awful compared to the last games...

Was kinda looking forward to this coming out until I saw all your thoughts on the game :/

Now am 50/50 at best.

But if it is so bad, how did it get 8/10 from that Eurogamer website? Surely can't be that bad then...

Played the demo a couple of times, first time I didn't like it but the 2nd time it grabbed me and I really enjoyed it.

Will more than likely pick this up, as I need something to replace Spilt Second.
