**** Official Motorstorm: Apocalypse Thread****

I can describe it - its half outside (train yard/storm drains), half in sewers where the start/finish line looks like its on one of those storm drains in California - think of the Bike/Big Rig scene in T2...

It has only one alternative route which seems to last for seconds (on 2nd lap you can go above the sewer for a short distance) and the destruction also puts a train car as a bridge before you go into the sewers...

Im pretty sure the vehicle classes still have differing abilities, just not bar charted as before - its obvious a bik can take less damage than a Big Rig, but also has far better acceleration, so no doubt those multiple routes (which dont appear on the demo track it seems) suit different vehicles...

Ah, defo not the first track then.

Will have an extended play tonight to see what track that is. If they do have the abilities, I think they are negligible as all the vehicles have pretty good acceleration from the get go. Will have a more detailed look later to see if the bikes get a better start. As I admit, I didn't pay that much attention to the differing abilities during the races. :P

Mid way through Pro and the AI is getting quite harsh, not so much the "rubber banding" cheat but it feels like every opponent is trying to physically take me out rather than race me, still enjoying it tho.

Any of you guys been playing online now the game has been officially released? I've just played abit and I'm almost level 4, but I'm having loads of fun!!!

I liked it, still not got past the 'Rookie' mode though. Not been on the PS3 for a few weeks to play it through thoroughly. :(

When is it released?

Been playing this online pretty much every day since I got it on the 19th, should hit rank 40 and grab the platinum trophy today, have really enjoyed it, although the single player side of things felt a little lacking compared to Pacific Rift.

I've now remembered why I stopped myself from playing MS:PR now, this game mates me so angry!!! Apoc isn't as bad as PR for silly crashes though, I've only once randomly wrecked by crashing into what looked like nothing? PR was terrible for that.

Don't think I'm far of lvl 9 now, haven't been playing it loads, though the other half would disagree!! Does anyone get random disconnects from games every so often?

I'll add some of you guys when I'm on it next, my PSN ID is Dphect if anyone wants to add me.

Can anyone shed abit of light on the online play? Any good? There some kind of levelling up system? Thinking of picking it up

There is a levelling system, the "points" are betting chips, you get points per race for finishing place, amount and level of opponents beaten, cars wrecked, airtime and drifting time.

You can also place a bet on someone you think you can beat, the better the opponents records the higher placed they are and so worth a higher bet e.g. the worst starts around worth 500chips and it goes up a 100 per person. If you win you can then either collect the winnings or bet them again and gain a higher multiplier on the next win, obv if you do this and lose the second bet you lose it all.

You can also get more points for accolades and medals which are things like "place first x amount of times", "win x amount of bets" etc

I have really been enjoying it and apart from one of two errors while creating a room its been a pretty solid experience so far.

Brought this over the weekend, i like it so far but I'm sure the loading times are way longer compared to the first two. They seems to drag on in SP mode.

Yeah, that's one thing I've noticed about loading times on single player, it's a lot longer than MS:PR. On multiplayer though, it seems faster for some reason.

Still, I'm loving the game!

So its good then? I think Ill be picking it up soon

Yes, it is good. With a few caveats. I think I can only really recommend it if you're going to be playing online. The singleplayer campaign is short, but finishable unlike the previous entries in the series. Each track only has one 'festival race' given the ever changing makeup of the city, which is backed up by three story campaigns. The lack of length *is* made up for to some extent by the 'collector cards' hidden in each track. Some of them are a real pain to find, and with 150 overall, there's something to keep you coming back if you like that kind of thing.

In terms of the unlockables, there's only 3 vehicles for each class available, but they are completely customisable outwardly. Again, the caveat is that the parts are on unlockable by playing online.

The online however does come into it's own. I won't reiterate too much of what other people have said. From the lobby, there's a vote on the track to play, choose vehicle, choose perks and then bet. I've had numerous problems with the vote not actually appearing until after the timer has ended, and a biiiiig delay before the betting options appear. Hopefully Evolution will get this patched sooner rather than later. In terms of the racing itself, I've experienced no lag at all, and no mid game drop outs, but drop outs after the race has finished are common, losing your bet and the XP you would gain for the race.

It looks as though Evo have DLC already planned too (possibly even on the disc). The collectors cards feature characters, vehicle classes and tracks from throughout motorstorm, and I've noticed there's one or two Apocalypse environs that don't actually appear in the game. Still, it's nice to get a teaser of what's to come!

Can only repeat what Apop has just said really, online play is damn good!!

For some reason after moving my PS3 upstairs next to the router it's not playing ball, it keeps trying to join a game then it tells me it cannot join games? Odd, would have thought it was better with my PS3 being nearer to the router - going to try run some CAT5 to it me thinks.
