*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

Just had an hour on Fast Racing Neo and wow what an absolutely awesome game. Easily in the same league as FZero and Wipeout and only ten quid and ninety nine flipping pence!!!

I paid £15 for early access to formula fusion and FRN blows that game out the water, yes it's only beta but unless some big changes and actual content come forth I think I'll lose interest :(

We've got the kids a Wii U with Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 for Christmas. Me and the Mrs can't wait to get our hands on it and get back into some Nintendo goodness :D

We already have some Wii remotes and nunchucks and planning on getting some Eneloop rechargeable batteries. Is there anything else I should consider to get us up and running Christmas day?

Was a bit gutted to find out that Splatoon can't really be played 2 player locally though. From the adverts I sort of got the impression that it was a game we could all have fun together on, not just single player. Have I got this right?

However looking forward to playing Fast Racing Neo, used to spend hours playing the old Wipeout games and think my boys will love it too.

Also picked up a Wii Fit U, with balance board and Fit Meter for £40 delivered (rrp £80) from the Ninetendo store, may help burn of some of the Christmas excess!!

Mario Bros. U makes decent use of multiplayer, your remotes would be ideal. I never played Nintendoland but it might be worth looking into. Both games shouldn't break the bank.

Why is the so cheap! iv'e been watching some twitch streams the game looks great, I didn't know Formula fusion had early access was that on pc?

Yeah formula fusion is available through steam, be warned there's hardly any content.

Can't you just plug a decent USB stick to give extra storage?

Might have to buy it but ive got no space left after that xenoblade x 15 gig fast load patches, what can u use for extra storage?

External Hard drive, USB stick i use a USB flash, stick but Nintendo say it better to used a harddrive due to flash memory not being great when its overwritten many times.

Perhaps there's something you can delete that you dont play currently?. I think the FRN download is < 1GB.

The game is awesome!, cant beleve its only 10.99 on release... feels abit wrong.

I think it is that price as it is not exactly jam packed with content. But would say it is worth £15-20 as it is easily. Getting it for that price just makes the game all the more sweet.

Had a go earlier. Completed two cups and came first on those. The first cup I only managed to come first on the last track as I started of badly.

Then I went online and was up against 5-6 others and came in first which I was pleasantly surprised about. The quality of the gameplay online was excellent, no slowdowns, just felt smooth.

The game definitely deserves the 9 out of 10 it got. Not quite a F-zero for me, but the next best thing :D

Had my first online game and my Wii U crashed just as I started lap 3 in 2nd :(

My Wii as never crashed before, hope it's a one off.

Looking at picking up a Wii U over the next couple of weeks, do you guys see any problems using one of these.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HDMI-Male-to-VGA-Female-1080p-Video-Converter-Adapter-With-3-5mm-Audio-Cable-/231675505160?hash=item35f0efaa08:g:HUoAAOSwT6pV6Hy1

As the screen it will be used on does'nt have HDMI.

I was going to say that there was an issue since HDMI carries audio and VGA doesn, but it looks like the audio is also dealt with on that adaptor, which has a 3.5mm on the VGA side. I didn't know these things existed. Though I've got a HDMI splitter to make use of the single HDMI port on my monitor.

Fast Racing Neo reviews are going up - it's scoring very well.

Yet another top class Wii U game.

People are going to look back on this console in years to come and the camp will be split into two:

Half will say - "I owned one - I was there, and boy was it fun"

The other half will say - "Damn, I missed the boat, I was this close to getting one too"

:)

Indeed. The funny thing was that folks were complaining the WiiU had no games (exclusives to play). Thing is, the WiiU is the best place for exclusives this gen (at this moment), while the other 2 aren't so strong in that regard, but excel at third-party support where the WiiU fails. The WiiU has plenty of games to play which can't be found anywhere else. And I've been here since I heard that it would be getting a Monster Hunter game (I bought mine as pre-ordered MH3U bundle). As a multi-platform gamer, the WiiU is the console that has the most to offer right now. Hopefully the NX will keep up the strong line-up of exclusives.

Fast Racing Neo is tempting, but I've yet to unbox my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X (and Just Cause 3 for that matter). Too much to play :s

It's the game.

Seen a few reports of crashing online on forums and miiverse has a few posts about it as well.

I've played 4 hours or so online and had 1 crash, so you probably were just unlucky or there is something specific that triggers it. It's not the console though.

Been playing campaign mode for an hour or so tonight then thought I'd give online another go, crashed almost as soon as it started :(

Had about 6 races online, no crash for me. Hope they fix it soon.

Lovely graphics and performance from the Wii U. Hopefully the game sells well, developers did a good job.

Had about an hour online tonight without a single crash (at last) what a fantastic game :)

I'd love to see this on other consoles and PC as I think there'd be a lot of love for this game (especially PS4 owners) and the devs deserve more money! Quite why they only charged £10.99 for it is a mystery to me I'd have happily paid £30.

I'm not a fan of DLC but I have my fingers crossed for extra content. Maybe a combat mode, that'd cool :)

Thanks will take a look at both.

I am also trying to find a good title for the Mrs. It's been years since she played anything, but used to love stuff like Final Fantasy and Zelda. I'm not overly keen on getting the Zelda HD remakes as she has played the originals and I understand a new Zelda will be out in 2016?

Would Xenoblade Chronicles X be a good call? The game description on Amazon 'Riding and controlling a weaponised mech' makes me think it could be a bit macho and not really like FF7 etc?
