****Official Nvidia Refurb Thread****

I'd be reluctant to buy a refurb graffy card.

The fact that is one of the most used parts and prone to overheating and cooking I would always go for a new one.

I mean its the same thing with OEM cpu's.

Is the £30 saving really worth the risk of sacrificing a 3 year warranty?

It's not like OEM CPUs at all.

OEM CPUs are new parts, not refurbs. 1 year warranty is fine to be honest, for anyone who would invalidate warranty anyway (Watercooling etc) these are a bargain.

Price of the 580's keep creeping up, ETA 23rd... wont be ordering till pay day so looks like I will be missing out on the awesome deals :(

No price drops today, would like to order one of these cards before Deus Ex 3 gets released next week, it's between 480 & 570 for me so which will it be chaps?

Whichever I go for I'll also have to buy a waterblock which is approx £60. Is the 570 worth the extra 40 quid? seems like the performance of the two is almost identical and both seem to overclock similarly, more vram and higher memory interface of the 480 vs higher clocks, reduced power draw & cooler running of the 570. Will be watercooling the card so not too bothered about the heat of the 480. I'd value your opinions before ordering, cheers.

I would get a 570 mate and then add another for SLI down the line if needed.

Logically I think you're right easy, but the 480 is £40 cheaper and just as fast despite being older tech. Seeing as i'm Water cooling, I don't think the higher running temps of the 480 will be a problem. No full cover 570 waterblock on oc'uk either, do you know if the EK full cover 580 block will fit the 570?

Probably not. But if your wanting high quality WC parts you cannot expect to get it all from OCUK, it's a niche market and there very expensive to stock.

No point filling warehouse space with tech 1-in-10000 buy...

Yeah true, I've got a couple of specialist WC sites that I use for WC'ing parts, but tbh OC'kers are stocking a good range of WC'ing parts now and their stock seems to be expanding.

After a bit of googling it seems the full cover 580 water blocks will fit reference design 570's, apparently the only pcb differences are the absence of 2 memory chips on the 570 and different power circuitry but this doesn't seem to affect the 580 block from fitting.

Hopefully might be some price changes t'row, if the 480 drops back to 149.99 then i'll pounce on it like a pouncing thing.

The more I consider the prices of these refurbs, it's occuring to me that the 570's especially, are overpriced, a brand new Gainward GTX570 with 2 year warranty is only £30 more!

Fairer pricing would be:

GTX 580 £279.99.
GTX 570 £189.99.
GTX 480 £159.99.
