****Official Nvidia Refurb Thread****

need to upgrade my gpu - got 8800gt at the moment game at 1440x900 so no need anything ground braking and was thinking of getting the 260v2 or 460.. how much of an improvement would they be?

clearly the 460 has DX11 which will be quite useful in the future as im not thinking of upgrading any time soon.. but 260v2 looks very good at 69.99..

The 460 would be a better choice imo, it'll be a big improvement over the 8800 gt. Twice as quick + some in many scenarios, at you're res it'll almost be overkill tbh. Checkout some of the 1080p monitors on oc'uk, you'll be suprised how low cost a good quality 1080p panel can be bought for now.

GTX 460 is hugely quicker than a 8800 GT, so is best value.

The 260V2 is also a lot quicker, but whilst 460's are available this cheap, they are better value.

I got a refurb 480GTX and didnt even realise it was a refurb! £160 is a decent price though, lets hope it doesnt go pop after a year

Got a message from overclockers today to say the EK waterblock I ordered along with the gtx 480 refurb is infact out of stock, this is despite stock of level of 2 units displayed at the time I placed the order.

Message I received stated I should reply by 16:00 or delivery of card will be delayed, they didn't send the email until 17:10!

Being a bank holiday weekend I doubt now i'll receive the card until Tues at the earliest, I've never received such poor service from overclockers, maybe they're annoyed at me for having a pop at their pricing of the refurbs earlier in the thread and have consequently decided to deliberately trash my order! Me and my big mouth eh!:(:D

:mad::(

570GTX arrived today to replace my *dead* 8800GTX.......

Ran a loop of 3Dmark06, fine, play New Vegas and crash!! BSOD.

Turns out my PSU is likely the suspect.

Ah well I needed a new card but im bleddy annoyed I can't test it untill I get a new PSU.

This will be the 3rd PSU in about 4 years. All good ones as well.
Should have kept my old exploding Hiper!!

I've also have had a couple of incidents tonight after installing my new card, a hang in Crysis 2 and two in Bad Company 2, was running the 280.36 drivers but rolling back to 280.26 whql now to see if problems persist.

MooSey-UK, what drivers are you running?

280.26.

I had this issue with my 8800GTX though, thinking it was dead. That won't even POST.
I tried a 6800 spare card which worked and this new 570GTX which initially worked in 3Dmark06 but then crashed in any 3d application.
Im sure it's the PSU. I've had this issue before. luckily it's still under warranty.

Im positive the card is fine.

One issue I have though is my case quick release catches wont work on this card. it's a PNY version and the cooler body extends all the way to the back plate. I have managed to secure it, but not as intended.
others may have this same issue and have to resort to screws, sellotape, bluetac and any other BluePeter measure!!

I see that refurb cards are just bare cards - as i have the 480gtx how do i go about connecting the power connections? I see 8 and 6 pin connections are required - are these not provided and if not where can they be baught? I thing my 5770 uses a single 6 pin connector

Not much point me getting a card that i cant connect to my pc!

The cards are OEM, you get just a bare card.

The connectors should be on your PSU, if your using a PSU without the necessary connectors drop a post in the CS forum and they maybe able to have a hunt around to see if they can find you some spare cables from builds to post out to you.

But OEM is exactly that, these are bare cards, you just get the card, nothing else.

Smit101 - I had a similar problem. Placed a large order including a refurb 570 waaaay before they ran out of stock. Later told that the item was out of stock when it came to packing it (they admitted, their fault), but this caused a delay on the order and now I won't be receiving until tomorrow (though they did kindly upgrade to a Saturday delivery to do this).

Oh well! Will have to make do with a 6950 for now!

Well it's turned out that the gtx 480 refurb I ordered at the same time as the WC'ing block (morning of the 24th), is also out of stock! At the time I placed the order the gtx 480 was showing stock level of 10+ units. It's taken them until today to let me know I won't be receiving a card. I really feel like i've been shafted by oc'uk here, someone else on the forum ordered when stock level was 3 units but it seems he is receiving a card!

To put the icing on the cake, I've already ordered a gtx 480 waterblock from elsewhere for £75! What a freaking nightmare!!:(
