What painting quest? This is another I aint done?

It's called A Brush With Death and was one of the first ones I did. I struggled on it because I think I did it too early on. My way of completing it was a little unorthadox.

Enchanting Items?

So, I know I can enchant items, but I have a question.

At the moment, I am in full Ebony gear and have a glass long sword. These offer superb armour and the sword does a lot of damage.

If I was to enchant my sword with 20pts fire damage on strike, would the sword revert to it's usual 9 points damage when the magic has run out? i.e. My sword does 9pts damage and 20 points fire damage per strike, but when the magic has gone (i know I can recharge it) would it just go back to 9 points damage per stike.

Also, with an armour that has 8 points protection, if I enchant that, when it runs out does it revert back to 8 point protection. I ask because I am sure I has some enchanted armour that fortified life by 20 points, but when it ran out, the protection it offered was listed as 0.

Would rather keep it as it is for now it thats the case. Last thing I need is to be in the middle of a battle and my armour and weapon become useless. I can't carry spares either because Ebony weighs so much that it makes raiding caves impossible. I always find somethign good and don't want to ditch anything.

Yup, when the magic on an enchanted weapon runs out, it just does the normal damage. The enchantment on armour never runs out though, it's a constant effect. The only time I can imagine it ever running out is if your armour breaks.

The one problem with magical weapons and armour is that unless you are a journeyman in armourer, you cannot repair the magic items yourself. Thankfully I'm almost there so I'll be enchanting my Daedric armour safe in the knowledge I can fix it when it starts to break.

Ah yes, I did think about that. I think this is where I am getting it wrong then. I am almost there like yourself and now you've said the above it makes sense. The armour does become useless, but thats becaust I can't repair it, not because it ran out. Cheers for reminding me.

Good info on weapon though. I have about 5 sigil stones and some grand soul gems. Will have a look see what I can come up with. Can you enchant an item twice? I have this axe, forgot where I got it, but it has like 4 enchantments, only 4 uses though, lol.

You can't enchant a weapon twice, but when enchanting it you can add more than 1 effect. It just costs more to make, and you get less use from it before the charge runs out.

It's rather easy i thought? How'd you do it?

My way of completing it was to kill the first troll (i used 4 of the bottles of turps on it) and then run through the woods shouting "RUN AWAY!" in true Monty Python's Holy Grail style with 5 trolls chasing trying to swipe me, till I got to the body and recovered the paint brush. I then used invisibilty (60 secs once a day) to run back to the painter so he could paint an exit for us to escape.

That was one hell of a stunning quest though. I just smiled when I entered that world. Dreamworld is another interesting out of body quest too.

heh
I only saw 2 trolls and they only took 2 bottles of turps each to kill. Where's the dreamworld quest Kainz? Not done that yet.

I mucked up the quest for Sanguine, gutted because i don't think i can do it again :(

I was quite lucky on that quest, I had an enchanted sword with 20 points of fire damage, so I used the turps on my bow for a long distance heavy damage shot, then 2 swipes of the sword killed each troll. Without that sword it would have been much harder.

I found that one bottle of turps was enough to kill each troll. Just 3 heavy blows with the sword finished each one off.

I think I only had a crappy Iron sword when I did it as Cheydinhal was the first placed I visited upon exiting the sewers.

i used the turps once on my sword and killed all the trolls without too much fuss.

It seems everyone playing this game is having an entirely different experience.

I went through Miscarand today, neat place.

I killed the king quite easily. Just a warning to anyone else he has a nasty spell reflect buff on him, easy to melee him down but the first time I killed myself by trying to nuke him.

How do you open the door in Benirus Manor in Anvil?
It's one of the houses you can buy in this game so you need to purchase it. Theres a chap who hangs out in the Inn/Tavern nearby in a red coat who you can purchase it from for 5k...

Sorry, mis-typed question.

How do you open the door in the basement of Benirus Manor once you have bought it.

Cheers

Goto sleep and your quest will update. You then need to go find the guy you bought it from who will open it.
