** Official Oblivion Story / Help Thread **

Yeah, just repeat it until it won't let you any more really. Absolute maximum is 100, but using the segments often stops at about the 65-90 area, depending on the person. If they still don't trust you, you'll have to bribe them the rest of the way unfortunately.

Didn't think this was worth starting a new thread about as there's already so many but has anyone noticed that after turning the console off, the next time you load the game your saves start saving at the bottom of the save games list? At first I thought it wasn't saving at all because I assumed the next save game would appear at the top of the list. As such, if I want to load my latest saved game I have to scroll right to the bottom. Other than limiting my saves to, say, ten slots, is there anything that can be done about this?

Not on mine, they're at the top! :D

Gonna try for the arena master thing. Any tips? Im a warrior class but only have that +8 healing spell which is PANTS. Anyone know where the version above it can be bought etc? (im a warrior so dont have a lot of mana but have nice regen with willpower - 50 odd in it lol)
I blasted through the arena at level 1 without spells, just using a sword, no shield, and the light armour they give you. The people you fight normally only attack once every 5 seconds, so after they hit you, batter them. Takes about 3-4 hits only sometimes. There's a healing thing after you fight anyway.

Likewise. I went there at lv1 and came out Lv3 as a fighter/knight. It's quite easy but just keep an eye on the durability of your weapons which can take a hammering. Also save every so often - VERY IMPORTANT - A mate of mine got bitten while he was sleeping in the training area and became a vamp through no fault of his own.

Still only level 2 :p

I'm having trouble with the first fighters guild quest in Anvil. Says to follow this woman around, which i've done, but now what =/

LOL - kept thinking there was a bug in the game today. Kept travelling and all of a sudden I'd die. Kept loading last game save in and as soon as I got to a certain position, I'd drop down dead. Couldn't see any enemies around me, horse was running and then I realised.

It was day time, and I was a vampire! :D

This game is great!!

hmmmm just closed my third gate (just keep randomly finding them when exploring for dungeons), bit worried that by doing this im shortening the game. I've only just done the second part of the main quest and got Martin to the temple, and i dont wanna do any more for a while. Just explore and do some more side quests.

But cant help but think by closing the gates, im shortening the main quest by quite a bit

True, kinda know what you mean, but my total playtime is nearly 44hours and I've only shut one Oblivion gate. The rest has been taken up by guild and mini quests.

You are a seriously hard-core gamer! HOW DO YOU FIND THE TIME?

Well I just realised why I wasn't leveling up. I never went to sleep :P oops.

Anywho onto my problem.

Dunno if its a spoiler so I'll put the warnings anyway.

*Spoiler*

I'm trying to get a recomendation for the mages guild in Bruma but I can't figure out how to make the guy you need to find become visable. I have managed to find him by using the find life spell but he keeps telling me to go away as I'll ruin everything.

Cheers.

Well, I found *A* way of making him visible. I was just practising my Flare. Stupid guy was there infront of me :( now I'm gonna have to kill him. If anyone can still think of a better way to make him visible I'd be very grateful.

*More spoilage*

Might be a way of doing it but not sure:

Near the town (to the South I believe) is a small settlement that appears abandoned - when you enter one of the houses you get given a mission by a disembodied voice. There's a mage just down the hill that had an invisibility spell go wrong and accidentally made every living thing nearby go invisible. You have to go and talk to the guy to get him to give you the reversing spell which you then cast in the middle of the settlement to make everyone appear again. You get a free bed in the tavern for life out of it but not much else. I guess it's a possibility that you could take the spell and use it in the Mages Guild, or find one elsewhere. I toyed with the idea of going back to see if I could get a second one of the guy but I stole potion ingredients off him so he's not best pleased with me! Watch out for invisible creatures when you go and find him though.

***MAJOR SPOILER***
As cut/pasted from elsewhere - none of this is my own work.

The Bruma recommendation was the one I found to be most tedious. Your task in Bruma is to speak with the head of the Guild Hall, whom wants to find a missing mage named J'skar. You can find J'skar in the basement (living quarters) of the Bruma Guild Hall. If you are facing the inside of the Bruma Guild Hall, the Living Quarters are located downstairs. To reach this location, use either the left, or right doorways, and then follow the steps leading downstairs. Once you arrive downstairs, you might be lucky enough to run into J'skar, or you might have to use the Minor Detect Life spell (if you really want to see him). When you talk to J'skar (who is invisible, hence why I recommended that you use the minor detect life spell), he will tell you, "Go away! You'll ruin everything!".

Flattering, huh? Okay, what you need to do now is talk to Volatario (the mage in the green attire), you will need to bribe him at least once to get him to talk about J'skar; otherwise, he will simply say that he can't really help you find J'skar. Once you bribe him (your disposition should be at or above 75 to get the quest to function properly) he will give you a spell (Minor unlock latch), and ask you to go upstairs, unlock the Guild Leaders desk (which is a Very Easy lock, incase you were curious) and take a Spellcrafting Book from the desk.

Once you complete this, return to Volario (yes, I am mispelling his name, but you can't miss him, I promise!) and give him the book that you've just stolen. He will ask that you meet him in the living quarters after 10pm and he will help you find J'skar. At 10pm, Volarito will be in the living quarters, speak with him and he will remove the invisibility spell on J'skar. Speak with J'skar and he will ask you to tell the Guild leader that you've found J'skar. Speak with the Guild Hall leader, and you'll receive your recommendation.
