*****OFFICIAL OcUK/JW IP35 Pro THREAD*****

because we found some RAMs don't boot with 1.8v.

That makes perfect sense when you think about it. Any chance of increasing the maximum CPU and RAM voltages? My E8400 will definitely go faster, but it needs more voltage. 1.58V isn't enough. I also think that may be holding back some Q6600 overclocks too.

I was wondering what the highest safe voltage an e8400 can take and the max safe temperature. Also, I have pc6400 OCZ rev. 2 ram - whats the max safe voltage for it? Thanks

As far as I am aware there is no maximum 'safe' voltage. Anything over the vID (stock) is dodgy and the box very clearly says (on mine at least) 1.225V Max.

I'm putting the full 1.58V through mine at the moment and when I swap over in a few minutes I'll be trying for more than 4.5GHz on a Gigabyte X38-DS4 and I reckon that will need more than 1.6V (in BIOS). By overclocking you risk damaging the CPU. I would normally say don't worry about voltage, however there have been reports of electron migration damage through overvolting Wolfdales so if your stable overclocks start dropping for no reason beware!

As for temperature, Intel shut it down automatically at 105C for protection purposes so that's what they think is safe.

Your RAM (assuming it's this stuff) is rated 1.8-2.0V but OCZ allow 10% so 2.2V is the maximum 'safe' voltage.

How are you installing it? They usually come as exe files?

http://www.jwele.com/UserFiles/download/WDM_R186.exe is the latest.

It should simply be a case of just running it.

Is this a clean install or are you upgrading from the P5B in your signature? If it's an upgrade you may need to clean up the audio drivers.

Oh - and it definitely is the OcUK/J&W IP35-Pro, isn't it?

Ah - right, this is hugely confusing but Abit make 3 boards called IP35 - the IP35-E, the straight IP35 and the IP35-Pro. Those are made by Abit, a company based in Taiwan.

This thread is about a motherboard called the J&W IP35-Pro. It's made by J&W Electronics, a Chinese company, and it's a completely different motherboard made by a different company, in a different country.

The drivers you want are these ones;

http://www.uabit.com/index.php?opti...&subcategory=1003&model=382&product_name=IP35

Hopefully, that should see you running properly.

If it totally fails to boot, I'd say RAM. If it boots then dies very suddenly I'd say one CPU core is weaker than the other, but the fact that you're using high voltages says it's more than likely RAM to me.

tried the 800mhz bootstrap :) and it worked :) clocking a very tidy 3.8ghz now with ram on the following 5-6-6-15 @ 474mhz per channel:) t1 too:) very quick rig now :) just need a new graphics card or sum help sorting the drivers out on this x1950xtx ( it shakes in games) and vista complains its the ati driver ( the 1 it downloaded and installed automatically as downloaded 1s wont install just need the extra to get 4ghz then lol

Good to know someone else is getting decent results!

Buy another X1950XTX - they're about £75 now 2nd hand, and run Crossfire. That'll speed you up a bit.

I'm running 2 512Mb x1950Pro's and they do 11,000 in 3DMark06 with the 4.45GHz E8400. I paid less than £100 for the pair, and the whole system didn't cost me £400 excluding the PSU and Case. Incredible value.

annoying thing is ... that i swear that this type of choppyness isnt down to speed of the card , as it does it on the games it used to run real smooth on, yeh i aint complaining about this board tho, not a chance in hell!

As far as I know there are no Omega drivers for Vista 32-bit yet, but have a google for beta drivers and there are some better than the official drivers available.

4.45GHz here and I'm using all 1.58V - but it's actually only 1.53V with the voltmeter.

MIne does something similar with NVidia graphics cards. The system is actually booting fine, but there is nothing on the video? It works fine with ATI graphics cards, and is usually fine with NVidia, but once in a while it just doesn't start the graphics. Keep recycling the reset button and I think it'll light up OK.

No, it shows everything else though, but I can't make it show the PCI device listings on boot. Why do you want that?

hmmm... I thought that it does.. just seems to flash by so quickly you barely notice it

I can see the HDD/Optical Drive port allocations, then I get the Vista boot screen almost immediately. I have tried messing about with various settings, but I can't make it show the PCI slot allocations.

So will this board run crossfire? Thinking of a pair of 3870 cards

Yes, I'm running a pair of X1950Pro's in CrossfireX and it does 10,952 in 3DMark06 with my 4.45GHz E8400 with the Catalyst 8.2 drivers. The 8.3 drivers are theoretically better, but not in 3DMark06.

Thanks one more question as it wasn't answered before. Is anybody using SPDIF (Coax) on this board? The manual says it is SPDIF IN - is that correct? Shouldn't it be out?

The Pro has both (the BNC at the top is the IN, and the optical below is out).

is it possible if you guys can make a video of this board from booting screen to windows?

A video? You're having a laugh aren't you? I don't work for OcUK or J&W, and while I'm quite happy to answer questions about this board, I think you're pushing the limits of what can reasonably be asked. I've spent at least an hour this afternoon trying to get it to display the PCI slot allocations and you still haven't answered my query about why you want to see the PCI slot allocations on boot-up?

A video:D

So the board itself boots up fine, but won't run Windows or even detect the HDD? My first thought would be a bad XP update, or a virus, or a bad HDD possibly.

I'd certainly try some more fault-finding before sending it back as OcUK service department will levy a testing fee if the board is tested by them as good.
