*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

There are a few plugins that can block some of the mods but not all.

Unfortunately lots of the invisible admins mods have really easy workarounds that make them not really invisible at all.

To be honest I'm not really of the belief that expending a huge amount of energy in fighting the use of mods is a good use of admin time. It's far better to go for a few of the "easy wins" and keep as much admin time as free as possible for helping players/the community/etc.

Yup. As toString pointed out, too, we do have logs of lots of player actions, chats, block placements, etc so it is usually possible to track down wrongdoers :)

We do investigate all reports we receive. Sometimes it takes a little while to gather evidence of somebody misbehaving but usually they will be caught out relatively quickly.

Once retail is out there will be a period where everyone will start with nothing, yeah. After a few days/a week or two we will bring in the old world(s?) so people don't lose everything. This period should be interesting though :)

The no build area at first sounds good but I think it's a bit of a divisive issue in regards to there being a particularly planned spawn area. We've had this in the past and it's lead to arguments and spawn not being used much.

Some idea I've just thought of would be a rotating spawn build thing - build stuff at spawn and once per month or something the admins clear it out by moving it elsewhere. Might be a bad idea for a whole number of reasons - I haven't thought it through or discussed it with the other admins.

With your original account just add the new username to the list of allowed users on your locked chests.

We can't really allow you to have two MC account names that are tied to one OcUK account so you'll need to choose one of them and the other will be removed from the whitelist.

You don't need to create a new linktart username - one of us will simply reset your MC username on there and then you can add the new one.

I believe we went from a 1.5 map to 1.7 earlier in the year. When 1.8 was released, there were enough changes and new items that it warranted a new map. At the same time, people didn't want to lose their 1.7 buildings, so two maps are running with a gate between them. The 1.8 map was only going to be around until 1.9 when a new 1.9 map was going to be created and used until full release, but because of the way they've been releasing small updates, that hasn't happened. When the full release happens in the next couple of weeks, we will get a brand new blank map for everyone to start on :).

I hope that info is correct.

Yup. Absolutely correct.

The 1.7 will also be made available after a week or two. Eventually we want to get rid of the 1.7 map and just have the new map, but that will depend time for the admins to copy builds/etc (or players to accept a deletion).

I'll try and discuss it more with the admins and get something set down.

Personally I don't really want a massive single build at spawn but I'm not going to claim that I'm 100% right in that belief.

I still quite like the idea of 'cycling' a reasonably sized area. It would be hard to do it without generating work for admins though.

Rather than first come first served (if we went that route) I would also be more like "people sign up on linktart, we randomly allocate to plots from those people". People that don't sign up via a post don't get a plot. That's still not decided/etc/etc/usual disclaimer.

Another thing to add in if you go down some sort of route like that - i.e. people registering for a 'spawn house plot' - how about people registering to make a 'useful community building at spawn'. i.e. same size as the houses - but it will contain the nether portal in, or another one with a melon farm, or another with free stone tools for noobs etc.

Just an idea.

Definitely an interesting idea yeah. Will add it to the list :)
