*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Personally I don't really want the pantheon copied to the new map. It would be missing the opportunity for a nice community build, not to mention that I'm a bit bored of seeing it on the cartos.

I think that 7 and 6 are quite important to have - or alternatively they could be community builds, much like 3 is.

The newbies could be given access to a 'managed' mine, where we let people dig freely in certain areas (keeping resources), but we turn the mine into an underground chamber.

Tefals Dwarf fortress is an excellent example of what we could do with a community mine.

Sign posts on the door to the mine explaining the dig requirements.
  • Dig chamber one is currently active (dig here within 30 blocks of position X only)
  • Dig chamber two is now completed (so closed for mining)
  • Dig chamber three is currently active (dig here for 60 blocks from position X and 30 from position Y)

Collaborative work, only works when everyone has a vested interest (i.e something to gain) and getting resources is a pretty simple way to encourage access, we can easily manage access with signs to, it just requires a plan.

Once completed or if determined a failure then I would be happy to turn it into a real build.

I'm not 100% sold on the idea tbh but I'll discuss it with the other admins.

Yeah quite possibly, it's a good plugin afterall..

Code:
/minvitehome * vs /home public
/mhome joachim4075: vs /home jo

etc ;)

Yup, no arguments there. I will have to make sure that the new author is reliable though. I really hate having to change home plugins every time we move to a new version of Bukkit/MC/etc :/

Nope. This has been discussed on here and elsewhere a ton.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON RELEASE (bolded so people don't miss it)

On release:

Fresh new world and no access to 1.7 world. Inventories on your characters wiped.

One-two weeks later:

1.7 will be made available and linked to the main world. You will be able to get at anything as normal from 1.7

Sometime (more than a month or two) later:

1.7 will be wiped and some stuff copied across (maybe).

If this is the case, whats the point in starting anything fresh or even playing it for the first 1-2 weeks? Might aswell wait and get things linked over from 1.7 world.

Otherwise people will collect wood, build basic house etc then a week down the line will be dwarfed by huge structures, diamonds and everything else that has already been done

Or is this just this one server. Do other servers start fresh than now allow transfer from 1.7?

The idea is that some people enjoy the "fresh start" feeling so we're attempting to cater to that. At the same time, some people don't want to lose their builds or materials, so we're catering to that too.

I respect the wishes for a fresh start, but it should also be considered that it has already been announced we would have access to old items, thus i think many have been spending the past couple of weeks gathering materials they'll be using come release, i have at least.

What I have posted had already been announced and that is what is happening. This has been set in stone for around a month.

There's nothing additional we need to give consideration to. This is a compromise that tries to keep both "sides" of the server happy. All you need to do is have a little patience.

With regards to bukkit it should in theory only take a small amount of work to have a stable build. They have access to the pre releases before they are even released. Also since pre release 1.9 (the first one) only things added to the game are bug fixes really and small changes.

btw I not playing mc atm due to Skyrim Will be back for when 1.7-1.0 builds get moved.

Hopefully this time they're working on the pre-release code (or in fact, hasn't MC "gone gold"?) rather than just sitting on it.

Will the temp one still have the same map which will be on the bukkit one ?

Unlikely. I think a temp map is the best thing to go with otherwise we may run into issues with griefing and/or exploiting.

As I say, I may well be too busy to put up a temp server tonight anyhow. However, if Bukkit (and the important plugins) are updated I will try my best to get it all sorted.
