*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Yrth has taken a backup of the server. In addition I am going to reinstall the OS on the dedi due to a few niggling issues that seem to be around.

Some error is preventing a reinstall of the OS. I think yrth will bring the server back up for now and then next week I'll try to resolve the issue.

UPDATE

So a quick update
FT has done a huge amount of work on the server getting it sorted out and
updating it. I am now re-uploading all the server files for both minecraft servers.
this will take a while to complete as the world files are rather large.

Should if all goes well be back up later today

I saw the server close earlier when I was on, then the whole linktart site was down, remember FT mentioning he was doing some work at some point! Thought I had broke something major, was the only person on at the time

I'm also working on a few other things - such as an updated website (WIP and will take a while), sorting out mumble and integrating it with the website and better server chat stuff.

Has anyone experienced a "Bad Packet 72" Error? (i get it when trying to connect)

I've re-downloaded the mod pack, installed the extras and the wireless-redstone patch but nothing seems to fix it.

Going to try re-installing java, if anyone knows what might be causing the problem I'd appreciate any help!

Have you got the correct version of Java? i.e. the 64bit version if you are on a 64bit OS? It could be worth having both 32 and 64bit variants installed.

Another thing I've heard before with "72" is it could be related to time - is your machine time-synching to Microsoft correctly? If there's a mismatch between your client and the server then it will reject the connection.

And of course the obligatory "turn firewall off / allow exceptions".

How's the mod server compared to the old one? Was only just getting to grips with tekkit then the server was changed. Bit worried it will be overwhelming.

It may seem overwhelming with all the different mods and items. But to be honest if you spend 10-15 minutes reading a few bits on the wiki, or check out a few direwolf videos. (Season 5) seems to be the closest modpack) Get an idea of where to start and just go from there.

Play it like vanilla MC for the first few hours, get a house going, get mining a few resources, then get some power going, get a quarry going...

Be warned gregtech will make you angry! :D

Also Mod server seems to be down again at the minute.. Odd that it seems to only go down overnight??

It is strange as it is not even when server is full sometimes only 1 or 2 people on. I think more to it today as both vanilla and mod server seem down. My guess would be some sort connection issue and not a game issue that has caused them to go down.

I wonder if there is any sort of server back up that takes places during the night? could be causing them to close then not restart properly?

yrth will no doubt get to the source of it :)
