Can someone turn the mob 'view' radius down or something? I can't do anything once the sun goes down due to too many mobs running after me. I just spawned, at spawn, and a creeper immediately blew up in my face but there were too many zombs to be able to do anything as far as repairs go...
 
It's fine :p

The area needs lighting up and there is a zombie spawner directly under spawn which no one has killed yet which is why there are so many zombies!

Once the server goes live I'm sure everyone will band together and keep spawn a safe haven :D
 
yup have to agree with the server admins on the difficulty, as long as spawn is well let up i cant see it being an issue as you will have a safe haven on that first few nights.

Minecraft has previously been anything but a survival game as the previous servers mob difficulty was just making it a build your house then sit back and go inactive type of game.

I personally prefer having to be a bit weary of mobs now, altho i do agree that the baby zombies did seem a bit o/p :p
 
The biggest issue with spawn this time was the mob spawner no one cleared that was reallllllyy close to the surface so the mobs would juts come flooding out and once they leave 5 blocks or so from the spawner another one would spawn including the baby zombies.
 
I have to agree with sharpy, I also think the increased mob difficulty will encourage more team work especailly at the beginning.

I am looking forward to helping out making spawn safe when the server starts up again.
 
The settings seemed just right to me as well. You actually feel like you have to be careful and plan what you're doing, with armour actually being important. Don't know about anyone else but when I first played minecraft the fact you had to be weary going out at night was exciting.

Hope people are up for making some big builds together :)
 
Hey all, just got the email about the new server opening tonight, I did attempt to join even though I know its open at 7, but says im not whitelisted

said in the email if I already am before on older servers I should join

Yep, you will be whiteliseted. The server is just in an offline state for the time being :D
