Recommended build for 1.5.2 was released 2 weeks ago.

Based on previous development times a beta for 1.6.1 should be out within 3 weeks and a recommended build in about 6 weeks. Hopefully griefing plugin developers will update as bukkit updates although some state they will not update until a recommeded build is available.

Hopefully the minimal amount of plugins we'll be running with will help to expedite the rollout of the server. As you say, anti-griefing is probably about the most important.
 
Vanilla is coming back!

That is right, the Vanilla server is coming back with all the fresh gubbings 1.6 brings plus some reworks to how the traditonal Linktart server has been run. Check out the below blog post for some info on the upcoming update. More info shall be coming soon once testing has entered a more stable state.

We don't have an ETA but if everything goes well then it could be within the next week or two going by the very basic testing that has been done thus far. But we could have a massive hitch up and will have to wait for plugins to be updated.
 
Few queries regarding chunk loaders.

I thought the limit was 9 yet I can only load 8.

Most people use buildcraft quarrys to mine this uses a few chunks on its own. Would it be possible to have a couple of extra chunks allocated to people who use other methods of mining?

The quarrys are limited to 32x32 this is 4 chunks. This is slightly unfair on people who do not use buildcraft quarrys as they are forced to use the limited chunks they have for building the base.

MFFS player detector causes that should be resolved

regards the chunks and increasing allowance only far way is to reduce the size allowance of quarries. will look into option for this though

yes i have seen it just started playing with it a few days ago
if it is not to heavy on server may see what FT things about adding it to our
list of game. Something i may run and manage if it turn out to be popular

Check out the above link to find out what is new with the Linktart Vanilla server! The server is still being tested so it isn't quite ready to be open to everyone but this should give you all time to plan some epic projects :D

As you can see by the above changes there will probably be some need for some form of community driven spawn area for quick chest storage, mini camp sites and most of all some form of rail transport system?
