*** Official OcUK Modded Minecraft + Vanilla Server - Now with guides and how to's***

Barry - feel free to change the motd on the van server - I'm sure it can be done with in game commands if not let me know and i will edit the server file.

I will change the mod server motd - and like the other guys if enough are willing then I will help out too.

BTW guys it's circa £35~£40 a month total afaik.

so at say £5 each a month we would need 4 donations from each server (8 total 4 on the mod 4 on the van @ £5 a month :)) - I'm in on the mod side :)

Remember guys try finding a multiplayer mod server that has nothing banned :)

- EDIT -

Changed the motd on the van server just reload the plugins
also changed on the mod server

If the worst should come - the final maps will be available to download for SP so keep playing. But we don't want that to happen!

Hey,

I'd be up for a £5 a month on the van server. I assume that the server would return to a private one if we were to go this route? and return to either this forum or find a free alternative for the website side of things?

I guess if the cost of the server was covered then we could keep it private. We wouldn't need to advertise anymore.

Hi All,

I would be more then happy to keep going if the server cost was to be covered.

the Server costs just shy of £46 pounds per month.
The web site the new one is $2 per month.

I would be more then happy to make the server private the main reason it want public was to try getting the cost covered for the server.

I would like to keep the new website as it allows the admins to automate the in game shop and some commands. It would also help server as a platform for twitch and youtube for the players.

The server can be set that it is private and we can go back to the old style of member joining from the good old days. By recommendation and time as member of the OCUK forum.

I really like being part of the community we have had for the last few years.
If member where happy to help support the server cost it can be done through the enjin site showing the amount the server has in its account for costs.

If you are all up for this i will be happy to change the server from public to private ASAP.

Thanks
Yrth

Is that the cheapest server package that'll support the two servers that is available? It could get the server one step closer to fully funded if there was a way to get a cheaper server package going?

That would be a good idea I don't mind moving the server files.

It should work, as obviously you'd expect only a small amount of players now so the slightly lower end hardware of a cheaper server should be able to cope with the small amount of players (when/if the server is private)

Sorry to have forced you into this position yrth. I would just like to say that if you've got something in the pipeline and such then I'm not going to instantly close down the dedi as soon as we hit the next payment cycle (January).

I've not managed to catch you on Steam yet either but we also need to discuss how you want things to go with regards to domain names, website, etc. I'm not going to leave you in the lurch - I just want to reduce my outgoings :)

Would it be possible to get a copy of the vanilla server map please?

From the vanilla point of view, a Minecraft Realm @ only £8 a month would probably work for us. Not many players have come forward willing to help pay and while i'd love to get the community together and we website running it doesn't seem possible.

I no Minecraft Realms won't offer some of the mods the current vanilla server does but with the limited number of trusted players there are playing it we wont need core protect or LWC.

I only ask this now as a step to cover ourselves, i'd still like more people to come forward and help pay for the server but as Shivy011 says is there a cheaper option, one that will work for all of us?

Dubs.

The mod server especially is extremely heavy on resources (and vanilla isn't that easy on the CPU/ram either). On top of that, this dedi is extremely cheap for the spec. Due to that you might find that there isn't much room to downgrade/you won't save much cash.

Shall i wait until you have decided what you are doing about the server before i ask for an IP?

:D

when i attempted to join the Vanilla it seems to be out of date to the current version of MC

Then I guess what we need to know is if ALL the current players of both versions are willing to help pay for the up keep.

The current vanilla map also has the multi-verse old world, old nether & old end which i guess use CPU and RAM but are largely not used.

Sorry my new position in work has me very busy

FT i will be about at the weekend and we can have a chnat then
i dont think you forced anything and no point in you paying for something you no longer use.

ALL

As FT said you wont find much oth there that is cheaper. I have looked.
The thing is the dedi has a ton more flexablity regards anything we want to do with it. It can also host other games as long as there is a server installer for them.

We also have our own mumble on it (FT corect me if i am wrong on that)
we can expand further with this but this is also why the server runs smothly
we can scale out the system to handel what players are doing.

But at the end of the day it is the comunity that is in control

Yup, mumble is running on there. As you say, you have a ton of flexibility.

The server is definitely over-spec'd for what it's currently doing but as said above, the pricing of it is good enough that to save significant amounts of money on it you would end up losing a *lot* of power.

yrth - I will likely be busy nearly all of Saturday but I will try to get online on Sunday.

OK so I kinda spawned a Wither under my base and it got out and blew most of my base up.......ooops!

Might need someone to come over and kill it please
