Im willing (as i have done) to chip in £5-10 a month, but not to sound rude/harsh theres no way ill be paying the whole amount (if thats what your referring to bulb66)

For me I dont get enough time to play on a daily basis anymore (due to newborn) so for me, that is my limit financially im willing to spend.

That is what I meant but I totally understand what you mean, I too don't want to pay the whole amount but it was just a suggestion to try and ensure the server is funded on a monthly basis.

It seems there is only 3-4 players using the server because I can't see that anyone has posted saying they use the Modded server so it looks increasingly likely the server wont last.

Hey all,

I will be working on putting into place the montly server cost meter that will be displayed on the new website and the date the payemnt needs to be made.

I can also if people are signed up to the website have an auto reminder get emailed to everyone a week before server needs paying for.

Currently i am in transisition for my new job role so been crazy busy. But i am planning on getting things done this weekend and make the system more streamlined regards this sort of thing and so as to be sure we dont miss the monthly payemnt.

I have also just complete a nixer for someone so i am going to upload 1 month advance payemnt from that job so we shoudl alway have at least 1 months worth of funds in the account for the server that way if we do miss a dead line we would not go down.

This is all i can afford to do and that is a very big streach for me at the moment. I hope with my new position i will be able to start adding more to the fund to cover us for a longer time. I should also get more time to do updates of the server.

Current plan.

Van server has been up and running smothly and so far no issues reported.
So now i am going to look at the modded server and see what i can do there.
I will be posting question at the weekend regards the config and setup and all should get involved. I am thinking of moving away from the mod pack as they are not getting updated.

This will mean starting fresh for the mod server but i am also looking at linking the server using bungee to let player jump between servers even just to view what has been done by each player. Or at lest i beleve that is the idea of bungee.

So start thinking what you would all like in the modded server mod wise as i dont want to have to manage 250+ mods esp if they are not really used. If you want start a post on the new website forum with ideas of the type of server you all want.

That is a posablity as they dont have a 1.8 update that i know of
i could be wrong as i have not looked in about 2 months.

It is also not very stable regards the mod pack that have been created and make managing the server much harder in the long run.

But... that is not my desision to make per say as it will be the comunity that will decide that in the end. I am just making the suggestion to may be move forward and update the servers.
 
1.8 seems to still be very new there are some mods not supported on it at the moment or not likely to be for some time like Ars Magica 2
FTB are or do seem to be releasing updates but seems to be very slow doing it assuming they have a lot to test and tweek.

as a note on payment, the does seem to be a large number or players white listed on the server. and only a small number donating.
 
What do the numbers of active players on vanilla vs modded look like? Might be worth thinking about just focusing on one server. The donations will come if there's enough active players, that can build and play together regularly. With one server the information feed is clearer, events will be easier to organise, easier for admins to manage the server and keep up to date and more chance of not logging in alone! Ultimately one place for all of OcUK to play Minecraft together. Perhaps some halfway house of a lightly modded server? I may be alone but I'd play either, if I knew I could log at the weekend and know there'd be a bunch of people on to create a new town or take part in whatever event with.
 
Good news ref the funding this month, and cheers Coltus. I've whitelisted you on the new vanilla server. Hope on and say hi - haven't seen you for yonks!

I can confirm that there's no issues with the vanilla server and it's running fine. Thank you Yrthilian :) There's a small spawn house with a few bits to get you started.

I like the idea of a half-way house, a van server with some good mods on. While i mainly play Van myself, ive got no issue if we moved down to one server and it was a modded server (would take me ages to get my head around it though lol)

But yeah, all i want is a server where i can log on, chill out and have fun with others :)
 
I have signed up to the subscription service at the weekend. I have to say i like the suggestion from lithon, a lightly modded server maybe an option but which mods could be an issue.

I for one like thermal expansion and tinkers but they are very basic and not sure whether they will keep the modded guys busy enough.

from the small amount ive used FTB stuff, i did like Tinkers. If we were to go down the route of a lightly modded server, id like small things to be added like more mobs, more random structures, NPC's etc. Is it even possible to get twilight forrest (i do like that place)
 
Good to see the ideas comming.

A lightly modded server would be nice I have fallen out with the whole 250 mods in FTB and other systems i think that is way too much. but if mod players want that they can have it.

I wil work on the number later regards active players and may even clean up the whitelist to remove players that are no longer active.but that is something for later.

I am looking at bungee corde as it does look to be a very nice system and would link any of our servers together. The idea would be to have one main server and then say something like an event server. that uses adventure maps that player would like added. but that is just an idea once i look at how bungee works and see if this will be suitable. we can even have themed servers liek a magic only server or a tech only server. again just an idea and something that can be looked at later.

My main plan is to work on the van server add/remove anythign not need clean up the whitelist. may even create a swap shop from within enjin if players would liek it.

I have a ton of ideas i will want to talk to player about but the idea is anything we want or may add would be added to the main server as a theme/event that way player can move between server without have to log out and back into MC

NOTE:
to thoes whom have used the scriber option on the site. I made a mistake with it. I have fix the error where i would only chnage once every 12 month to once each month >.< i dont know if this will update the subscription but i will let you know and the end of the month. appoligies for that

NOTE 2
the donation progress is a little off as the £15 donation was made in march for febuary so we will need it to go up over the month donation by £15 to make up for the late payment.

If it gets too much, I've got spare resources kicking about in my flat for hosting the server :).

i7 4771, 16 GB RAM and a 500 GB SSD. I already run a Minecraft server on there but still have plenty of resources spare. Let me know :)

EDIT: Connection is a 1 Gb/s down and 100 Mb/s up.

It's not that bad, I'm running it without any mods at the moment for about 8 users who are fairly active and it hasn't been restarted in about a month now. It's certainly a lot better than it used to be :)

Edit: it's only running with 4 GB of that total as well.
 
thanks for the offer but hopefully we wont have to use it :D

the issue you will have it modded if you try running a modded server it will eat into the ram so for modded it wont really work all that well

van yeah no problems there
 
If there is a case to buy more RAM then that's easily achievable :D

Just a shame to see it in trouble in the moment, had many a good times on the servers so just offering back :)
