*** Official OcUK Modded Minecraft + Vanilla Server - Now with guides and how to's***

bringing the old world over was not really an option.
The issue is the 2 worlds are different and currently not all plugins have been updated for 1.8

I am happy to review that option to add the world as a multi world option when the plugins are updated and stable. When i get a chance i will make the old world downloadable

As for donation i will look at making a subscription option

Hey all so i realised i made a decision before getting the all clear from the community this is not how the server is to be run and so i have created a poll here for players to vote on and we move forward.

http://linktart.enjin.com/forum/m/20976988/viewthread/19497037-to-keep-or/page/1

I have posted my views on the linktart thread, and I'll copy it here too:

Hmm - difficult one. As Dubs says, it's nice to actually build new stuff, and there are some seriously op farms in the old world (witch and gold farms) which stagnate new builds, so yeah, be nice to have a fresh, clean start.

BUT, it's nice to visit the old builds now and again and look back at what various teams built, along side some of the more decorative builds.

A further point would be the issue we had with the last update with some players going to the old world and looting chests, and currently having no block login would make keeping an eye on the old world very difficult.

A fresh start means new designs - Dubs has already built a very basic but extremely effective new xp farm - totally different to the old design of pistons and string and utilising a new mob.

Blimey - war and peace. I personally think zip up the old map and make it downloadable.
Just my 2p's worth.
Cheers - Ham

Helpful hints and commands for the 1.8 server:

linktart.co.uk:53565 for the brand new 1.8 vanilla server!!! Thank you yrthilian!!!

The new server runs a whitelist. For access *in the short-term, please post on this thread.*

GriefPrevention

Lets you “claim” an area of land – this will prevent any player from interacting with the area you have claimed. This includes the locking of chests, the protecting of livestock and crops, and the protection of all blocks. You can share your land if you wish to team up with another player. You will need a golden shovel to edit your land claims. A stick will show you if an area has been claimed. Putting down a chest will claim a small area around it. You are assigned a set amount of land you can claim, and this will increase every hour of game play. Creeper explosions are off by default in claimed land. Here's a few commands to get you started – for a more in depth list, see http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/grief-prevention/pages/command-and-permissions-reference/

/trust (playername) – gives full access to your claimed area
/untrust (playername) – revokes full access to your claimed area
/abandonclaim – abandons the claim you are stood in – handy for unclaiming chests in group/community builds
/claimslist – shows current claim info – other players access etc
/accesstrust (playername) – let's another player use beds, buttons and levers
/givepet (playername) – shares tamed animals with another player

Lockette

We also have lockette if you wish to lock chests/doors/etc outside/or in addition to GriefPrevention. To lock a chest or door, simply put a sign on it and it will lock to you. You can add another sign to put additional commands. A more in depth set of commands can be seen http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/lockette/

Right click a locketted sign, then type /lockette [linenumber] to edit which ever line you want. For example, If I have locketted a chest and I want to share with yrthilian, I would rick click the sign, then type /lockette 3 yrthilian – this will add yrthilian to the second line and allow him access to the locked item. If I wish to remove yrthilian, I would type /lockette 3 to remove him from the third line.

Homespawn

You may set a home using /home set. *I think you should be able to set a few homes using /home set [homename], but at the time of writing, I'm not sure if you can set more than one home.* To delete a home, it's /delhome [homename]. Use /spawn to, well, go to spawn ^_^ There is no /back command, so be careful if you die. More info http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/homespawn/

Minimaps – I'm using the current voxel minimap loaded via liteloader 1.8. It seems to work well, however, there's no map saving like journeymap has, but journeymap is currently only supporting 1.7.10

There is a small safehouse at spawn with a few bits in for new players. *I can't remember if the immediate spawn area is build protected, it might be. If so, travel a short distance from spawn before building.*

If I've missed anything, please let me know. If you're unsure of the commands, just ask – cheers - Ham

Server rules:
1. Players are expected to use common sense when playing. This includes, but is not limited to, not building right next to somebody else’s build without asking, building something huge and dwarfing someone else’s building without asking or generally annoying other players.

2. Fire and the use of flint/TNT is allowed on the server but players must use this responsibly. Accidental fires that damage other player’s builds may be treated as a griefing incident.

3. If players are found to be griefing (intentionally damaging other players property) then bans will be handed out as required. If you need to report a griefing incident please contact the admin/mod team. Areas that are not GriefPrevention claimed, but are clearly another player's build are not to be griefed.

4. Please be aware that creeper damage is YOUR responsibility to repair – with the SAME materials that were destroyed. Ask other players for guidance if you are unsure. If you fail to take note of this you could end up being banned from the server.

5. To reserve a space of land place 4 signs and clearly mark the extents of the area you require and the date you claimed it. Again, common sense applies with regards to what you are building and where in relation to other players. If you are planning a big build, discuss this with other players on the server before commencing work. Please note that player builds *without* signs and builds that are not GriefPrevention claimed are not free-for-alls and building or modifying someone else’s actual build will be treated as griefing.

6. Sky bridges and single block towers of dirt are not allowed. If you need to build one of these as scaffolding for a project be sure to remove it immediately afterwards.

7. Building in the spawn area should be discussed with players and admins on the server in advance of any actual building work.

8. No hacking allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, FlyMod, transparant textures, item duping and intentionally crashing the server. Players found using any unfair modifications may suffer an immediate permanent ban.

9. When community mining and exploring all goods should be shared equally between players involved unless a direct agreement with those players is in place at the start.

10. Homophobic, racist and sexist remarks will not be tolerated from players. This behaviour is taken very seriously and incidents of it will be dealt with extremely harshly.

11. All strongholds and NPC villages generated by the worlds (including those in the Nether and The End) are protected and players must not strip them of resources or otherwise destroy or damage them in any way. In cases of accidental damage, be sure to report the problem to an admin immediately or you may well be treated as someone breaking this rule.

12. Admin discretion will be used when handing out player bans. The general guidelines will be 1 day in the first instance of problem and thereafter 3 days, 1 month and finally a permanent ban. Particularly severe incidents of griefing or players that act in an immature way whilst dealing may lead to instant permanent bans.

13. A beacon is not allowed to have it’s area of effect on top of another player’s build or claimed area without their consent. You are also not allowed to place any beacon inside of Spawn and must only be placed 80-120 blocks outside of the immediate spawn area.

Do the modded/van servers all run off the same server that needs funding? Is this shop still the way to add a donation towards it's upkeep? As I'm playing on the new van server now and again I wouldn't mind chucking some cash in to it.
