*** Official *** OcUK OpenTTD server

Map size is up to 1024x1024, inflation is off. You will need a few newGRFs, though I believe you will be prompted automatically to download them when you join, so you don't need to worry about anything like that.
And yes, the server has been reset, as we're now running a different version.

We're not using the latest nightly, we're actually on one that's about 3 weeks old, and manually patched to include the slower day length patch as its not an officially supported feature.

I'm currently compiling a version that will contain the patch, and will post it once I'm done!

Is the day length patch really necessary? I mean, if that's the only thing meaning you need to rebuild then it seems fairly superfluous. I know I'm not that bothered about it. It just seems to create the extra hassle of having to have two copies of OpenTTD on my system.

Its compiling! :D

And its a bit of a faff, I agree. However, when people can only play in the evenings, they play, say, from 8pm-10pm. Which is a couple of hours or ~100 years? But if people continue to play after they leave, and there's many who put in some hours during the day as well, you get on the next evening to find that everythings out of date, broken and you're possibly bankrupt. Slowing down the time will make it fairer for those who are unable to put in as many hours, while hopefully still making the game fun for everyone. It may require some tweaking of the speed factor, but hopefully not much!

I guess if inflation is off and the option is set to still be able to build older trains, then it isn't needed so much really.

iviv is afk atm. Last I spoke to him he had the client compiled and was testing it.

I got the server compiled with this build earlier today - but it's a lot easier to get the various libraries required to compile in linux.

Yup, just setting up all the newgrfs now! The compiled version of the game runs fine, just needs the grfs.

I've got to go to a meeting, will post more when its working :D
