***** Official OcUK Twitch List - Important Information in the Opening Post *****

Hi guys. Read through most of the posts here and really enjoy reading about what people are doing.

I have quite a lot of spare time at the moment and so was thinking about doing live streaming full time for a bit until I get other things in my life sorted. I really want to do it for fun, I'm not really bothered about making any money (although that would obviously be awesome as well).

I'm at that difficult stage though where I have to make a choice between using Twitch and using YouTube Gaming. I'm leaning towards YouTube Gaming at the moment because I can stream in 1080p at 60fps at a bitrate of 6800kbits/sec and the quality is pretty awesome. With the kind of games I play containing a lot of text quality is very important.

The other thing is my hardware set up. My computer is pretty darn powerful so I don't need to change anything on that front. The only thing I need is a really good microphone, a pop filter and a shock mount. I've been asking around on various websites and have been told that the Blue Yeti microphone is the one to go for. I see OCUK sell it which is cool. Should I just go ahead and order it? Once I have that hardware sorted I should be ready to go.

I'm actually really looking forward to getting started :).

I signed up for fibre last night with sky should get estimated 38mb /9.4mb down

I quite fancy streaming for a bit of fun probably h1z1 game any tips for a total newbie?

I was wondering if I could ask a question about CPU's for streaming (asked in the CPU section of the forum and got directed here). Would streaming benefit from an i7 processor over an overclocked i5 or i3? I'm just helping my nephew decide a potential upgrade to an i5 2500 (non- K version). He streams CS:GO, WoW, and a few other Steam games at 1080p, with a Sapphire 390 GPU, so was wondering if his current i5 was holding him back, as apparently his FPS dips noticeably when streaming.

Didn't realise people on streamed WoT, will have to give you lot a look next time you re on.

I did my first stream the other day as an experiment to check everything was working.

Streamed in 1080p at 30fps using OBS and had 6 or 7 viewers at some point which I thought was pretty good for a first stream. I'll certainly be back for more once I've decided on my gaming line up.

well - House move completed

Virgin back online - 225dl and 15 upload :)

So as soon as I get the room's furnished and sorted out and my lodger moved in - I am back on stream witha new schedule and a new way forward.

I'm also going to move a little bit away from World of Tanks etc though that's in the pipeline :)

Did my second stream got another 4 - 5 viewers at max. I have to say though that I am struggling to find decent games to stream. I've been looking at smaller games and older games that I could do but have been struggling.

I guess I need to find a game I'm happy to play in the long run but know enough about to not be a complete newbie at it.

To be fair crom - people like seeing people play games they enjoy and have fun.

i'm not great at World of Tanks - y et some how I have over 200 followers.

find something that you like and enjoy then get involved in it's community and get your name out there and the rest follow's in most cases

Good tips.

I'm not looking to go for games that are popular just because they are popular mainly because most of the popular games aren't really my cup of tea. On the other hand I have to find a game I can play for long periods of time without getting tired / bored. Thinking about it I might just play some of my old strategy games that I used to love and while I wasn't the greatest at them at least I didn't lose all the time. I'll have to reinstall them and see how it goes :).

Np - happy to help out were I can :)

How many are still streaming I wonder?

I know Valkia is, I've not seen grumpy stream for a while, I think Sugar is - not sure though?

I'm going to start a resurgance very soon - hopefully get into a new community aswell :)

I recently bought Ark: Survival Evolved because I thought it sounded like a cool game. Played a bit in single player to test it out and have to say I loved it. I found an Ark server called TwitchRP which is for Twitch streamers to role play on it. Sounds perfect! So I applied. Not sure if I'll be accepted but if I am I'll be happily spending many hours playing on that server.

The big thing I find and is worth remembering with Twitch

there is always someone interested in the game your playing.

One of my friends decided she wanted to be a Varity Streamer - so she streams a different game most weeks, sometimes longer is it gets a good response.

She's got over 8k followers already in a year doing this.

Holey thread revival Batman :)

Well - I almost gave up live streaming, I had some really nasty backlash from people for streaming another game and it really knocked me for six.

However - had a chat with some friends who also stream, some quite big aswell, and decided to get back on.

Now almost at 340 followers, consistant double digit viewers - getting a lot of good feedback from people about both image quality and sound levels.

So onwards and upwards :)

I've been streaming from my PS4 just because, I'm playing the game anyway so figured I may as well try streaming.
It's not going well, I only have 9 followers (most of which I know personally) and average 1-3 viewers, none of them chat. I figured this is mostly what it would be like but my girlfriend streamed 1 game of hearthstone (level 20) and had 9 viewers all of which were chatting.

Being a girl definitely helps. :p

Yeah, I still am :)

Bumping this as it was said it wasn't easy to find

I've not streamed for a week - aminly due to stress at home and some changes to the gaming group I am part of which sucks.

I ahve done and kept to my YT channel sechedule though - All video's out on Sunday

Seem to be getting good feedback there aswell :)

need to stream again asap though

Good to see everyone is still plugging away with streaming.

As for me i haven't streamed in months. Its probably down to i don't have that much time to play but mainly because i am now quite heavily involved with the game "Squad". We are currently into the semi final of a competition where the winner receives $500.00. I wont see any of that but it'll go towards server costs etc with the clan i am in. Maybe one day i may step back in to streaming but not for the time being.

Fair play to you boys that are still doing it. Keep going :-)
