QUestion guys - I'm not confident with going on cam myself while I play, but I noticed one of the streamers I follow use's a picture of them selves.

Do you think this will be better for me, or at least a start?

I'm also struggerling with getting the pop up of new followers to show on the screen - my Teeboard has small grey box that pop's up and show's new followers, I wonder if I can use that?

Also do any of you use the tip's / donations stuff with paypal etc? How does that work?

I generally don't like webcams when watching twitch (it obviously works for most people), I personally don't see the point as im in Twitch to watch the game not the person playing it. (This is purely personal preference).

As for the pop up box thing I think its got something to do with the ordering in obs ? (correct me if im wrong) I think I had mine in the wrong order last night when I watched my previous broadcast as my chat box was hidden.

As for tips and donations I have no idea. I don't get anyone watching anyway hahahaha.

One of the biggest streamers i watch has never once done a face cam "Lirik" he has like 40k+ viewers most of the time.

He doesn't even show a picture of him self as a picture, You don't need face cams to provide a entertaining stream and if you don't feel comfortable don't do it and focus more on the game and interactions with the viewers.

I personally don't use a webcam cause I ain't comfy with it. I wouldn't go with a pic either but hey it's your choice.

As for popups etc, I use subalert, can do all your follows/donations/hosts in that, cap it and it pops up!

Thanks to everyone that followed me by the way, hit 800 whilst offline, 1k in sight...maybe?

Cheers for the advice everyone :)

Niceone Jat - soon be over 1k :)

I'm 30 odd shy of my goal for 100 this year - aiming small but hopefully it'll grow more then that and it can start to be even more fun :)

My starting mentality was, enjoy the games, it's soon turned into being hooked on casting, knowing some excellent people and having some down right random convo's. All good fun though.

Unfortunately Twitch viewers can be fickle at times, I notice I get a lot of people unfollowing if I'm not streaming a certain game. Which is fair enough I guess, I do however state in my info that I stream a variety of games.

Main thing is I love streaming, and it is weirdly addictive!

It is addictive - I found myself apologising to my followers when I've not streamed for a day or 2 - even if it's for a reasonable reaosn.

I also find it helps me to play better, I can explain why it went wrong more and also people are generally good fun to interact with :)

I plan to try drop by everyone's stream if i can :D

Managed to stop by Gaz's the other day and had a few BF:Hardline games with him which was fun :D

We did indeed. Was weird to see someone in my game, who's watching the stream.

I'm trying to stream each night but my work pattern means some early starts whereas I'd normally try to stream until 11am I just can't atm.

Having said that, I streamed GTA: Vice City last night and apart from some dodgy keyboard/controls it's a hoot. Yeah, I like Old School and diverse games :)

Gaz I wondered if I could ask a question ? What bit rate do you think I should stream dying light when I play later. My bb speed is 60dl / 18ul. Any help is massively appreciated. The reason I ask is that I'm not 100% satisfied with my settings, I felt dayz didn't look particularly good.

This is the inherent problem with fast paced games, they look pixelated/blocky after encoding and uploading to the stream.

If you increase the bitrate too much, you start to limit who can watch your stream, but leave it too low and it looks crap.

Twitch partners get preferred settings, but becoming Partnered is quite hard.

I'd suggest around 2,500 kb/s for most games tbh, just so that even viewers on ADSL connections can still watch. Upping the bitrate much higher will not improve things too much and will cut down on potential viewers.

Also, upping the bitrate will make the encoding machine have to work hard and as most of us only use the 1 machine, it can cause issues with your games performance.

Stick with 2,500 kb/s for now, but test up to 3,000 kb/s and see if you notice any discernible difference when watching it back.
