***** Official OcUK Twitch List - Important Information in the Opening Post *****

Yeah dedicated machines are nice, it's something that I need to set up as I have a spare i7 2600k sat here which I need to throw into a mATX box with some ram and use is an an encoding box.

Only issue I have is I play at 2560 x 1440 on a ROG Swift monitor so getting that across to the other machine via capture card is going to be an issue as my Avermedia GamerHD Live only captures at 1080p max.

Played Dying Light a bit with Shoza tonight. Was bloody great fun.

To thenewoc, how did it look mate when you watched, was it ok or buffering etc ?

Hi, it did buffer a bit at times but wasn't sure whether it was my internet as I'm only on a wireless link at the moment until I finish my Lan project. The picture quality was nice and sharp though.

Thanks Sugar Rush for the help and advice on sound levels :)

No worries, I think maybe your mic level is probably a bit high now as I compared it to a couple of other streamers afterwards. I'm not sure if I could hear engine noise from that tank or whether your mic was picking up fan noise from your PC. It's much better than it was but just needs a bit more fine tuning. Do you play ads on your channel or is that something that just happens because twitch do it? What I notice on channels that do play ads is the volume ramps up for the ads quite a bit, so I would try and harmonise your levels with the ad volume. If possible, if it were me I would have the stream volume slightly higher than ad volume so when a viewer adjusts their volume for the stream it is also good when an ad plays. I'm not sure if ad volume is static or determined by twitch pre sampling your stream level and then adding more volume to the ad.

What mic are you using?

Ok mate thank you for that. I have the bitrate at 2500, i may drop it down a touch when i stream later tongiht.

Yeah the mic level is something i'm trying to balance out, i watch some of the streams back to see how loud it is. I will drop the level down a few notches in obs later.

I haven't done anything to do with adverts, i assume that twitch does all that ?

The game volume i believe is already set at maximum in my mixer settings, I'll do some obs recording later with some game play and see if I can sort this out a bit along with my mic volume

As for the mic, i'm using the one that come s with the Turtle Beach XP500 headset. I am looking into getting a better headset and maybe something along the lines of the Astro A50's. Although to be honest im not sure whether to keep this headset and get a better freestanding mic.....

Thank you for the feedback though buddy, I do appreciate it :D

Your vol levels seemed ok, my comments about the mic were to tcfreer as I visited his stream too. They were also in general aimed at anyone to compare their output to the ad volume and another popular streamer's output as people may jump around from stream to stream.

Your headset mic wasn't bad at all, I didn't realise it was a headset mic. If you want to improve it further I think a mic on a mount and a pop filter is the way to go. Check out G33kGrrly_Gaming she got a whole new mic set up at Xmas and is very into tech and whatever she is using she researched and took advice from knowledgeable viewers. Also, another alternative is the Heil PR-40 which the very well known podcaster Leo Laporte from the twit network swears by.

Twitch run adverts on your stream periodically. They are seen only by stream viewers but you can block them with Ad-Blocker etc

For setting up mic volume in comparison to game sound do a local recording then watch it back to compare

Ah yeah you were commenting on tcfreer's, I was looking at this thread on my phone as must have got confused lol

I have had a look at that microphone, Jeez for £250 it should be good ha. Maybe a fair bit out of my budget because I would like a headset as well but thanks for the heads up.

Yeah that's what I am going to do before I stream tonight. Through OBS my mic doesn't seem as clear or pickup as well as it does in steam chat etc. I may have a look at some settings tonight as see if I can fine tune it. It seems that when I say a few sentences it picks up nicely but when I only say a couple of words (usually swearies) it doesn't quite pic it up properly, which probably isn't a bad thing hahah.

Going to look into getting Fibre in the flat. Using Sky ADSL at the moment, and it's a feeble 11Mps down / 0.9Mps up. I streamed some Super Meat Boy a few weeks ago and using D3DGear to broadcast (didn't have OBS at the time) it was streaming at a frankly pathetic 600k :o

Probably no point streaming anything till then as it'll just look and sound cack anyway!

On a happier note I've been watching some of your streams and I'm thoroughly enjoying them! Seen some Sunless Sea, BF: Hardline and Dying Light being played and you guys are doing a great job :)

If anyone is interested in watching me run round like a buffoon. I'll be streaming Dying Light (Coop with Shoza) at around 9pm.

Just bought some Astro a40's so might need a bit of feedback regarding loudness etc in the stream. Thanks a lot :-)

Didn't stream last night in the end.

I had an absolute nightmare trying to get teamspeak and game sounds into obs while playing dayz.

Has anyone else got the Astro A40's & Mix amp pro ? Just wondered if anyone else has encountered problems running TS3 ? OBS could hear everything apart from TS and I wondered if I need to add it at the bottom of the source list.

If no one here knows you could try twitch user 'soma', he's their Community Manager now but he used to stream quite a bit and I'm fairly sure he used TS from time to time and has an Astro headset.
