this has just turned into an england world cup thread, who don't have a chance of winning.
france, brazil, spain, argentina all have better squads.
germany, italy and portugal are on the same level as england.
so its a real longshot that england get anywhere near the finals.

as said above, they dont have a chance. i may live in scotland, and been born here, but i dont call myself scottish. i have no real passion for their football or any of their anti-english prejudism. im speaking my opinion, which is simply that they have a really small chance of getting anywhere near the finals.

No he's not. Crouch is a better player but Heskey's far better in the air or as a target man.
Whether you agree with the reasoning or not, Heskey's in the squad to be a big lump that can occupy defenders and create space for others. Only him and Carlton Cole can do that and unfortunately Cole's got injury problems.

A big lump who occupies defenders and doesn't score goals ? Be interested in seeing his assists stats for Villa, when he plays that is.
I'm not saying I agree with picking Heskey (I don't), but I'm surprised at the amount of people who don't understand the reasoning behind it.
Heskey's far more powerful than Crouch and won't get dominated by CB's which at times Crouch does.
Heskey isn't getting picked to win us the WC or even a game because of his football abilities, he's there because Capello thinks by having him in the side it benefits the likes of Rooney and Gerrard.
Quite surprised Young isn't named yet Barry and Carrick are, one is injured and looks certain to miss the first few games and Carrick has been in really poor form and not even first choice for Man Utd anymore. Scary that out of the three keepers named, one of them has been relegated with his club, and the other probably should have been relegated. I'm not sure we'd see such quality in other countries were their second and third choice keepers play at the bottom of their respective leagues.
Carragher deserves to go, despite Liverpool having a bad season, he is always a rock at the back and can be relied upon and with injury prone Ferdinand, Cole and King in the squad he could play the whole tournament as first choice. Huddlestone....why?
