Gerrard doesn't play anywhere now, nor does he deserve to. Beckham does everything Gerrard can on the right better, Joe Cole is much more effective on the left and Barry/Lampard look much more settled in the middle.

Lampard is a box-to-box midfielder these days for Chelsea, he's got a lot more to his game than the stupid amount of goals he scores. He just plays a bit deeper for England, that's all. He's still been our most consistent player for years.

Well he's scored more goals in less games than Gerrard internationally, and scored 4 for us in the 2010 qualifying. I bet he's got more assists aswell but I can't be bothered to look it up. Pretty good if you ask me. He's been absolutely top form this season and we need to base our midfield around supporting him imo, not Gerrard. Gerrard has been pap all season (admittedly most of Lpool have been), I'd rather see us play with a real winger or James Milner/J. Cole on the left than Gerrard at the moment.

Completely agree, always thought he is a nasty piece of work. Not that I'd wish any player to miss a World Cup because I actually want every team to be able to pick their best starting XI to make for the best spectacle, but if there was one player I would be least bothered about it happening to it would be Ballack!
