If terry is out then that is a big blow for england. We'd be left relying on two other centre backs with injury issues. Let's hope he's fine.

edit: seems he's ok and it was all just media scare.

No I'm being super serial!

I really can't remember what happened to him I swear two or three seasons ago he was competing with Glen Johnson for RB.

He remained ****.

Anyone heard about John Terry suffering a broken metatarsal? according to sky sports he will be out off the world cup for sure.

EDIT: http://www.skysports.com/football/world-cup-2010/story/0,27032,12016_6149298,00.html

Good old Sky trying to get some hype and publicity :D

Some Carragher related quotes for us all to ponder:

August 2008, extracts taken from Carra: My Autobiography:

• "I was never in love with playing for England in the first place."

• "Sitting on the England coach as it prepared to drive us away from the World Cup in Germany, I received a text message. '**** it! It's only England'. I'd just missed a penalty in the quarter-final shoot-out against Portugal. Representing your country is the ultimate honour, especially in the World Cup. Not to me."

• "I would rather miss for England than LFC."

• "I wasn't giving up my football career or my ambitions. Only England."

• "The Liver Bird mauled the Three Lions in the fight for my loyalties."

• "Whenever I returned home from disappointing England experiences, one unshakeable, overriding thought pushed itself to the forefront of my mind, no matter how much the rest of the nation mourned. 'At least it wasn't Liverpool,' I'd repeat to myself, over and over."

And finally, from last month's 442:

"If the England Manager called and said "I'd like you to come out of retirement", what would you say?"

"I'd love to work with Capello, but I'd say no. I read an interview with Alessandro Nesta who's been asked to come back for Italy and he said he couldnt because he'd be taking someones spot who'd helped get them there. I feel the same. You can't just walk in when others have put the graft in"

Jamie Carragher, FourFourTwo Magazine, April 2010.

What a penis.

You sound slighty obsessed :o

The stuff he wrote in his book, I'm sure a lot of other players feel the same, at least he's honest enough to admit it.

The quotes in FourFourTwo (if they're true), he's opened himself up for a lot of stick but you have to remember he didn't go to Capello, Capello went to him because of injury problems.

Young should be there instead of Wright-Phillips for me. Other than that I can't really complain with that squad. Surprised that Carragher is in there too but at least he is an experienced head if he does make it into the final squad :)

Carragher is a no-brainer now he's said he'll go. He's played all season and can play all 4 positions across the back four.

That graft thing is just him being proud. If anything with England, he put too much in. He played U21 as an overaged player until he as 23. After being captain for donkeys and playing for England since he was about 12. In the end he couldn't be arsed. Imagine being the VC of the European Cup holders, having played 200 games in 3 seasons and then being ditched for an injured, barely fit Wes Brown at the 11th hour for a must win game that got lost...

Most probably though - he'll get shafted like last time and come on for the last 10 minutes to take a pen in a shootout. He does usually take an excellent, excellent pen.

If you want someone to blame for the u-turn - blame Rafa Benitez. It seems he's encouraged it and gets the blame for everything else anyway.

Neville's not retired, he's just Neville ;)

As for Scholes, he's arguably playing his best for the last 2 or 3 seasons. If Barry's not fit, as expected, then we're likely to be taking 2 from Parker, Carrick and Huddlestone. Not really the sort of experience you want going into a WC.

It's strange though; nobody really knows who our keeper will be, we're so desperate at the back that we're taking 2 crocked CB's and asking players to come out of retirement, we're likely to be left with just 2 experienced CM's who 'can't play together' and we have no idea who (if anybody) will partner Rooney, yet I'm more confident now than before any other major tournement.

Carrick has played in Champions league finals, I'd say he's experienced enough. As for the other two, how are they meant to get experience? I think Nesta answered it best when he was asked to come out of retirement. I think it's better to just work on giving experience to the new generation. Friendlies mean basically nothing, only by putting them into big tournaments are we going to see how they cope, Huddlestone and Parker have both had very good seasons and deserve a shot (maybe not both of them of course)

Ok, Carrick isn't so inexperienced but he's useless and is being kept out of the Utd side by Scholes. The only thing Carrick offers over Scholes is age; even at this stage of his career, Scholes is a better player.

World Cup finals are not for giving players a chance, not unless they're massive talents which Huddlestone and Parker aren't. We're going into a WC with a real shortage of CM's and I know who I'd rather rely on out of the 4 and it wouldn't be Carrick, Parker or Huddlestone.

Honest or not, they're wholly unprofessional and classless things to say, particularly from someone who likes to think he chose to retire from England when in reality his decision was made for him.

As for the quote in FourFourTwo, the interviewer asks him what he would do if Capello came calling and he clearly says he wouldn't accept!

I would sooner have a less experienced player in the squad that actually had the desire to do well than someone who thinks he is bigger than the whole thing.

Taking the bait ...... When was the last time he showed up for England and you saw those "bursting runs from midfield"

He doesn't get to play like that for England because he has to carry Gerrard and his weaknesses.

Don't seem to remember him playing all that well when he had a holding midfielder ...... besides I may be wrong but doesn't Gerrard play one the left/right mainly for England now ?

If Mr shank it in with any part of his body , played like he does for Chelsea for England I'd be more then happy but he simply doesn't :o;)
