With the new asus gpu core limits removed, everything is possible now with the awsome MSI overclocking tool, it fully works you can go over 900/1300 now with the new bios with the tool and you dont need to use the AMD GPU tool anymore, there for ATI Power PLay is fully working

as you can see in the picture with my system ect ect. :)

Nice one ViRuS2k. Do you have the command line you used for crossfire flashing?

here you go

Asus Refrence 5870 Bios @ 1200/1400 GPU limit.

Tool to flash via dos has just been released tonight

http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1650/ATIFlash_3.75.html

ATIFLASH -i

command to check your device ID`s 0 being master 1 being slave

command to flash

ATIFLASH -p -f 0 ****.bios

Remember to back up your original bios with GPUZ latest version :)

thats all the info you need i think lol

Many thanks :)

Also remember when you use the MSI tool it will do everything now, but before you do anything just remember to go into MSI`s settings and untick SYNC mode and change the settings on both cards manualy otherwize you will get problemo`s as there is some bugs when changeing settings when there both synced as sometimes when you change settings one of the cards settings wont change

untill you do it manuely ect ect.

Virus (or anyone else), what's your current stable maximum overclock and at what voltage?

Im not sure i will find out later, though i did go to 1050 on both cores with 1.265v

:D

its pritty weird becuse artifacts dont seem to show up on these new cards lol
its do do with the memory error checking they added into these new 40nm GPUs.

though if you dont put enough voltage into the GPUS they can error then freeze. lol but you will know that already :D

as i did when i was testing for the lowest voltages :D

Just got my 5870 this morning. It replaced my 4870 x2.Runs much quieter and cooler than the x2.Ran a few benches and they are about even speed wise with the 5870 just edging it with dx10 vantage but the x2 just ahead in 3dmark06.Crysis warhead played better much slicker and seemed to look nicer and played for about a hour on highest settings doing 40 to 50 fps.Bring on dx11 cant wait.Temp running warhead maxed at 60c and its now running 38c idle where my x2 would run 60c idle and 90 load and sound like a jet on takeoff.

nice, now you just need to sell off your qx6800 for a 45nm quad and you'll have a green(ish) beast machine :D
