** Official omg I just got my 5870 thread **

Mine are MILES quieter than my 4870s when gaming. I'm sure at 100% they are louder but they haven't reached anywhere near that yet.

Finally got a PSU and my 5870 installed! Woot! First game I try (Crysis Warhead) I only get Gamer settings (not Enthusiast) and it crashes 5 minutes in! Typical!

Here they are in action:

Although I'm using my TV as a monitor at the minute and I don't think 1280x720 is really pushing them to the max. ;)

Very awesome mate, I'm buying my 2nd 5870 next month and 24" monitor for chrismas (temporarily using the 40" Samsung LCD in the living room lol but doesnt go above 1366x768 (8ms yikes!)) so will be interesting to see how you get on with your setup, benchmarks look very good (in the 5850 thread)

Thanks Overclockers, great price/service (assuming everything works!)

Sounds awesome Thorpedo! I'm quite jealous! I love building a new system. I have a spare PSU and my 4850 lying around now... really tempted to build a whole system just to fit them in :P

So what is everyone using to test out their new 5870s? I tried Crysis Warhead, but it crashed. Also tested GRID, and it was exactly the same :P Anyone found a massive improvement in a game?

Just got my Saphire from OcUK and i must say i'm quite impressed with the general quality of the card.

PROS:

- More quiet than my old 4870 and GTX 285
- Runs Cooler than I anticipated - case temps like it
- Performance with an i7 @ 4ghz is just amazing @ 1920x1200 (23'' monitor)
- The cooling solution looks very cool and pro - imho the best made so far for "stock cooling".
- The energy conectors are in a much better position now

CONS:

- Its larger than expected. Even though it fits my case well, its a beast, imho Nvidia/ATI should realy avoid making cards this large!
- Expensive - My wife nearly killed me when she saw the bill :P

Bottom line - I'll buy a second one for xfire and risk a divorce.

I loaded up crysis warhead, getting around 40fps. No crashes no what so ever.

thing is i never told her about the extra £230 on a harddrive

she just wouldn't understand

and i value my manhood

I've reinstalled every game that I wanted to play but never bothered finishing. Bioshock, WiC, all the Half Life 2 series. I'm also running through Batman again trying to get all the trophies :)

Has anyone fitted one of these in a thermaltake shark case. I am thinking of getting one but not sure it will fit in the case, i got a 4870x2 in but these seem a bit longer?

got mine yesterday , still cant get over how big it is , loaded it up this morning and its running at 36 degrees :D :D
