Sounds awesome Thorpedo! I'm quite jealous! I love building a new system. I have a spare PSU and my 4850 lying around now... really tempted to build a whole system just to fit them in
So what is everyone using to test out their new 5870s? I tried Crysis Warhead, but it crashed. Also tested GRID, and it was exactly the same Anyone found a massive improvement in a game?
Just got my Saphire from OcUK and i must say i'm quite impressed with the general quality of the card.
PROS:
- More quiet than my old 4870 and GTX 285
- Runs Cooler than I anticipated - case temps like it
- Performance with an i7 @ 4ghz is just amazing @ 1920x1200 (23'' monitor)
- The cooling solution looks very cool and pro - imho the best made so far for "stock cooling".
- The energy conectors are in a much better position now
CONS:
- Its larger than expected. Even though it fits my case well, its a beast, imho Nvidia/ATI should realy avoid making cards this large!
- Expensive - My wife nearly killed me when she saw the bill
Bottom line - I'll buy a second one for xfire and risk a divorce.
gutted i'm at work till 5:30 and then going straight down to Oxford to see the family until sunday

got mine yesterday , still cant get over how big it is , loaded it up this morning and its running at 36 degrees
That's pretty much impossible unless You are using different cooling ? 36 at idle would be very good though
37c with fan on default 21%. can't hear it
