*** Official OMG I've finally got my 5850 thread **

Strange !!!!
Try this..

I don't suppose You want the rest ;)

hehe, gets painfull on the eyes looking through a profile if you save everything.

WHat you have(both) is same as mine normally, only reason its different is amd gpu clock tool overrides all the settings.

I was hoping the 400/900 setting was in there and for whatever reason wasn't being set in certain setups, pop it back in and hey presto, but UVD speeds must be hidden elsewhere which is a shame.

Question still is why on earth are some people not getting the UVD speeding up properly.

Seems a long shot to drop from 8gb mem to 4gb, but ATi did have an issue with 4gb a while back, you would need to install windows with 2GB, can't remember why that was though, just remember seeing other people with that issue. Thats about the only thing I can see in common with the people with issues on the AMD forum, that gareth doesn't have.

Jakus, whats you're full setup if you don't mind listing it?

Yeah, flicking when i changed clocks to lower with the 4890, but it dropped power consumption 20W or so. They've changed something, forcing lower clocks with the 5850 with two screens caused all kinds of crap to happen, flicking madness on the second screen when moving stuff on the main screen. Thats why they've disabled the uber low clocks on dual screen setups. Disconnected the 2nd monitor soon after I installed as I don't really need it and wanted to test with the single screen and less issues.

Power saving in light loads has next to nothing to do with Clock speeds ;)

My 4890 was 120Watts desktop (Tweaked bios)
5850 is 100Watts desktop not bad but it's high power efficiency is better also
and it's not because it's more efficient

What do You mean full setup ?

Like I said to Asgard the Bios controls the Card ;)...there You will find UVD clocks
I can't really help You with a fix for Your issue without a working Bios editor but the fix is simple ;)

Have you spotted the 400/900 setting elsewhere in there? Or are you thinking he's only at 400/900 because dual screen(or more) setups don't drop all the way down to the lowest speeds?

Like I said why would It be in there, It's in the bios

get RBE and look at Your bios ;)

Aftermarket air cooling anyone?
