*** Official OMG I've finally got my 5850 thread **

Got mine installed this morning but I've got some issues with the driver. I'm using it with a 1080p display via HDMI and it's not filling the screen completely. It's as if it's applying some underscan which it doesn't need to do and there's no control for it. Also it refuses to do 1080p 50hz.

Also, I've got the driver listed on the AMD site which appears to be 8.66 but on the ATI site it lists as 9.9 which when downloaded doesn't seem to have all of the components in it and subsequently doesn't install a driver!

Total pants so far. :(

Very strange, Have You a DVI-HDMI cable to try ? What is it a TV or monitor ?

I wish they would work from the ati site as i say the games just crash out with them and the beta ones, the Sapphire cd ones are they only ones that will work for me atm.

That's strange, what windows are you running? and what's your pc spec? If you have the sapphire 5850 like me then the beta drivers should run fine, as you see from the videos I posed up.

Woohoo!! It works :)

Seems there was a bit of ATI noobishness going on!! :D Didn't see the right click option in Destops and Displays on the bottom row.

Right, more testing and then watercooling.

lets have some pictures with the block on - tempted to fit my block but not sure what to do with the VRM's etc

heres my crysis results, gpu at stock.

Run #1- DX9 1920x1080 AA=No AA, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 51.475
Run #2- DX9 1920x1080 AA=8x, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 47.115

the crysis benchmark tool doesn't have the 1920x1200 res

No, I would say that's about the same as mine stock...4Ghz CPU

8597/9685/CPU And @ 845/1200 on the GFX 8585/10363/CPU Shows the Cpu is bottle necking

Could You please try Crysis with 4xAA ?

I don't understand AA not giving You much of a hit, could You try 4xAA please ?

Run #1- DX9 1920x1080 AA=4x, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 45.035

why is it slower than 8x AA?

maybe its driver issues.

:D I seem to recall 8xaa does not work as expected for some reason !

@1900x1200 high dx9 GFX default clocks I get AV/MIN 58.78/36.04 4xaa 30.47/22.01

Would You give that a try please ;)

@ 1900x1200 it doesn't give any results for me.

OK here's some more AA in crysis bench tool results and DX10 very high. For some reason it switches to 1080i 30hz when running DX10 which is annoying and was the same with the GTX260 IIRC.

Crysis Bench Tool -
1080p/All High/DX9 - 56avg,32min,70max
1080p/All High/4xAA/DX9 - 45avg,25min,53max
1080p/All High/8xAA/DX9 - 48avg,27min,57max
1080p/All High/16xAA/DX9 - 48avg,27min,58max
1080p/All Very High/DX10 - 30avg,18min,35max

So, over 4xAA it's not working for some reason. It look like it's probably applying 2xAA.

Block is on!! :D
