EDIT: ok Now Im stable at 900/1200 1.162v at 65c, not bad might try some games now

the core and shader are on the same die, right? thats why all 3 temps are close together.

Well I would think so, but they do run different temps, that's why I asked, I get 10c difference which i find a little strange, If as You suggest they are all around the same area

I don't get that. The readings I get are very believable.

hey just wondering what everyones temps with this card as ive been keep is mine is 52 c in idle
mine 38c

I know everyones excited now they've got their new toys an' all, but can someone here start playing a few games (not game benchies) and let us/me know what they're like with preferably what they had before gpu wise and their system specs:p.
I wanna see if its worth going for a 5850 or a 5870.:)

That is Very high, You should be looking around 38-44 at idle or else for sure it will be running excessively warm under load

Make sure Your Case has Front and rear Fans and good airflow

i have 7 case fans and that airflow should be good with that and very tidy cable managment

My vantage scores at 940/1250.....not suffering from lack of physx ;)

Yeah it makes a big difference to the overall score...........show off!!:D

I reckon you'll probably be able to get that core up to 1ghz with a full cover block on. I'm going to have to get one I suppose, unless that little VRM heatsink that someone posted earlier works really well.

That looks like, at some point it's seen a spike of voltage through the sensor as I'm guessing it's range is 0-255c. I've had one show max 255c a couple of times.

The only other thing is to check the card is at idle clocks, If You are running something that is calling for 3d clocks the cards clocks and voltages will be stepping up

If your going to get either, get a 5850! :D

Anyway I just played crysis warhead, I had the card overclocked at 900/1200 1.162v, played for 30mins, didn't do a benchmark of it or anything but it was really smooth, running at 1280x1024, 4xAA and all enthusiast settings :D and considering my quad core is at stock I am really pleased, only reached 65c max

Now to try something more challenging GTA IV and ArmA 2

Ok, no one else has mentioned this and last time I posted this it was mentioned it could be switching power modes on the GPU. I am still getting lines of red pixels at at odd times that band across the screen, these are only 1/2 pixels wide and flash for a split second. This morning I have turned on my pc and am getting what appears to be raining artifacts. pink/red dots zooming across my monitor only 1 pixel in size but there are many of them and it is pretty much continuous, they appear to be going in a vertical and horizontal pattern but as they are so fast I cannot distinguish. I have a sapphire 5850, the rest of my spec is - evga680i, Q6600 (now at stock),enermax 1kw - the first one they did about 3 years ago, 2gb ddr2 800mhz, and a 2405fpw. I'm am struggling to see what may be the problem and taking a screen dump does not show this up. I have played a few hours of Cry on it and last night had a 4-5 hour TF2 session and it was absolutely fine. Can anyone comment, could it be a driver/ windows issue?

yeah all stock i might turn my fans around and pump more in air or it might be my h50 causing the problem

Pumping air in is not the answer, You need a balanced system with more out than in as the air is expanded as it warms up

Cooling is a science and not a matter of adding more fans with the chance of the new fans disrupting the other fans airflow
