Anyone who orders a new Opteron dual-core post some info here, I'm interested to know if these items are shipping. . .

Once they ship grab all the info off the cpu core before you install it! ;)

Currently running 2.6 @ 1.39vcore (stock). Not tried higher yet, but by the looks of things, if I'm lucky with this 408L, it might do 2.7-2.8 on stock vcore too. I'm a bit worried about temps though, as it's doing 51-52C under 2x Prime95 Small FFT cooled by a Big Typhoon on an Asus A8N32.

An update - 2.8Ghz seems to be the sweetspot for this one. 3.0 doesn't post with stock vcore, 2.9 posts but doesn't boot Windows with stock vcore. 2.8Ghz runs fine with stock vcore (1.39v), though I haven't primed for 8+ hours yet. Temps are 51-52C under load, 45-46C idle. I could try to pump some more volts through them, but it's probably not worth it.
 
thats just to run sp04 stable, running it with s&m,i dont need as much volts.
but 1.55 on water is fine, load is 42, ihs on.
me,i'll clock to near max :)

use the latest prime 95 too its optimised for dual core cpu's

Hi all,

just a quick update. At the time of this post I have still not plopped a 170 into my system :p

Been going mad buying Opteron 170's left right and center thinking that maybe AMD would restrict further stocks from reaching OEM channels, but as it turns out it appears that a load of new ones have turned up, and at fairly decent prices. I had thought that *if* new stock came in then the price tag would be *high*.

Not quite sure what is going on here, as AMD have almost wiped out their A64 and X2 line and replaced it with a new Opteron Series, with a choice of mono or multi core . . .

I must get a 170 0550 UPMW installed this week and see if peoples claims are accurate, the main thing that has been delaying me is running around like a headless chicken and also just giving myself time to enjoy using a nice mono-core 146, its my first A64 and it will have lasted 5 weeks in my system before being upgraded....doh! :o

Lol yes very nice,

Not sure if I have the same [micro]stepping as you, so when I say "find peoples information accurate" I am referring to the uber steppings vs the good steppings debate/hysteria/legend etc

Hope your enjoying that 2.7GHz multi-core monster, have you got really stuck into any good gaming sessions?
