Having clocked my X2 4400+ to FX60 - I was all setup for some good gaming and WHAM - gfx card dies. . Now I've got a busy run in till exams so I might just run a PCI ATi Rage Pro 8MB card until the G80/R600 arrives after my exams...

A PS3 will get me by in the meantime no doubt.

Just because I have been asking for screenshots doesn't mean I have to post any?

I have been trying to get people to validate their claims a bit better, nothing personal but it makes a thread more interesting for me when people take the time to do this. . .laters!

All I done is ask people to make sure their overclocks are stable and post screenies? easyrider I dunno why I am replying to any of your posts, its just clogging up a useful thread for no reason? just to clear things up and hopefully lay them to rest

I am just one of many people here who is interested in this stepping thing, but its quite a task to collect all these cpus with different steppings and test them out yourself, so the idea is were all meant to *chip-in* [<--geddit!] our information and results from the various versions of this CPU floating about.

I have noticed in general that some people can claim an amazing overclock that may not actually be stable. These type of overclocks are fine for some people and not fine for others (the great "what is stable" debate etc).

Anyway by bashing down a gruelling set of torture tests and grabbing a screenshot of the feat you are removing any doubt, its all there.

I think maybe you have taken something I said personally which was not intended (onionhead aside) I was just needing some good visual proof before blowing a wad of cash on a bunch of 170's.

Looking forward to the screenshots of your new overclock, can't wait to get the 170 installed, just cramming in as much useage/experience/testing of this Opteron 146 *mono* core as possible (my first A64) and I have had it installed 4 weeks now, two of those weeks it was running memtest as I was testing the maximum 1:1 MHz of all four memory slots on my mobo. Both A64 and nForce4 are new to me so I been kept busy evaluating the *whole* platform. . .

I have shown ..along with others, overclocks that are 9hrs and 12 hr stable

yes I do, thats why I asked for them, this was like a week or two ago lol? you seem to be dragging up what I was banging on about a while back, its done, its over, the stable screenies are posted, everything is sweet as a nut(ter)

I am clogged up with opterons atm, will get this 0550 UPMW installed as soon as I can, just been busy using the PC for business type activities so have been in no rush to take it offline. . .busy is good but it means I cant do 10 things at once.

I don't know much more than you about the CCB1E 0550 VPMW stepping except a few guys over at extreme saying its a wonder chip! (seen a few multi-core 3GHz screenies looks wicked).

Just to update, got my rma g.skill ram back.. and got my opty in at 2.75ghz 1.4v same stepping as easyrider and agent etc

Frequent visitor to both XS and here and it certainly looks like the VPMW 0550 beats the UPMW 0550 in most cases. On average the UPMW will reach (and be stable) @ 2.6-2.7 where as the VPMW will clock slightly higher (100mhz) apart from the exeptional few that go to the 'magical' 3gig+. There have also been reports of a couple of UPMW's reaching 3 gig under phase but the majority wont go past 2.7 without excessive volts.

I have a UPMW stable @ 2.7 with 1.44 vcore but if I had a choice I would go for a VPMW judging by the reports that are around at the minute. The 0551 chips dont seem to clock aswell as either the 0550 steppings.

One thing I have noticed is that compared to my 165 smpw that was running @ 1.55v, my 170 running at 1.44 vcore is a lot hotter (52c under dual prime) whereas the 165 was 45c.

Mine is prime stable on stock 1.3vcore at 2.7ghz(still tweaking 2.8ghz)

Is yours a CCBWE 0550 UPMW?

Yeah CCBWE UPMW 0550 408L batch. it will boot into windows and run s&m/OCCT/SuperPI32 at stock vcore (1.35v) but fails prime95 on core 0 within an hour or so. Needs 1.44 to become stable.
