Agreed. Whether stock volts were 1.3 or 1.35 - it wouldnt stop any of us from pushing more volts through it to see what the limit is. Also i doubt many boards claiming to put 1.35v into cpu are actually putting 1.35v in. They are never accurate and only way to be sure is to use a multimetre but even then if the temps are fine then why worry what the volts are?

Absolutely :)

what cooler you using?

and slighly off topic for a sec..will your mushkins do 280 mhz?

I'm on a Big Typhoon, they will do 280MHz but not memtest stable...will "only" stretch to 270MHz stable...but that is more than most has gotten out of them :)

@ easyrider...that is aircooling, but in a semichilled room...approx 15 degrees.
Yes, I'm aware of that..will use Prime95 as the final prime before settling on a decent clock.

@ Devious ...it's a 678L50***

Aha, interesting, same cooler as me. Considering your room is around 15C then those temps kind of matches up with mine (room temp around 21-22C, CPU temp 51-52C). You're clocking it higher but volts are around the same.

Hi Guys,

Right, i've finally seen Big.Waynes complaints about stability!!

21hours-Fail.jpg

Yikes, failed after 21 hours on 1.4v running at 2.8ghz. Darn it man!

Agent.

Hmm.. it transpires my Prime failed just after I left for work this morning (after 6.5 hours or so). I think I'm going to settle for 233 RAM, 280 HTT and 2800 CPU.

can I suggest you all slow down a bit and get some *meaty* stability tests done :)
Made three weeks ago?

The evidence is in this thread
It is now after I asked politely if people could post Stability Screenshots. Up until the point when I asked all that had been posted was a 32MB Super-PI. You have since taken it upon yourself to go back and edit all your previous posts lol! Not sure what has got your goat, but if you make a claim, back it up. Stop whining for me to make a screenshot because I am not the one making claims. I notice that on other forums people always post nice screenies so it seemed a bit weird that no one had here, and don't worry I will post some screenies myself once I got something worth posting.

Oi! No need for that! everyone has made the effort to publish their findings, people reading can get a good idea now. Still didn't get your system 24hour prime stable eh! :p

Thanks to everyone who took the time to properly test and publish their findings. It is not just for me but rather *anyone* who is reading this thread who doubts others claims, now their is no doubts and everyone should be happy!

TBH, I have to agree with Big.Wayne on this. People over at Xtremesystems, as nice as they are, run their systems on 32MB SuperPI stability which is just not evidence really.

I always post dual prime of at least 12hrs now for my stability screenshots. Also, you can get some people claiming stability when there is none - it's not that we don't trust you lot, it's more that we want to know which steppings truly are good and stable, not windows/superpi stable.

EDIT: fair play to those who have posted SS's but considering the length of this thread, shouldn't there be a few more banging about? Perhaps someone should make a table....

umm....

I have posted screenies on this very page of this thread.

If you hang on a sec I'll post you another 9hr prime stable @ 2.8ghz (still running)

why are you still going on about it?

here you go still running

look at the 3rd post in the thread, me screenshot showing a 10 hours prime . Note it is unedited.
p.s wish I hadnt sold that chip :(
Yeah Devious, I expect nothing less from a professional silicon trader ;) Yeah that 0550 VPMW is the new holy-child of steppings, how come u sold it?

It was the first 170 I recieved and id not heard much about that stepping, everyone was banging on about the 0550UPMW's and I had 2 of those on the way to me at the time so i sold it on. 'Funny' how a month later that stepping becomes the most wanted. I never got to find out how high that begger went...

2.85 SP32 'stable' (for those who think super pi is stable.

2850pistable.jpg

I can prime 12+hrs @ 2.8 with high volts (1.55v) and crappy timings but temps start to get silly - 56c..2.85 craps out on core 0 almost straight away.

These are the settings I've settled on for now 24/7. 2.7gig with tight timings of 2-3-2-5 without excessive volts. This is with fans on low setting so Pc is almost silent rather than having my PC sounding like a hoover. A max temp of 50c while dual priming aint bad for a near silent pc imo.

It needed a fair bit of v core though 1.475 v for 2.8ghz

Mine seems to only need 1.360 v for 2.8ghz

How many volts are you running through that RAM, w3bbo? Your results are more or less what it seems I will settle on too. Not surprising perhaps, as we've got a very similar setup :)
