Wondering if this is going to be the game to finally make me pop for an upgrade, bf3 didn't cause I could play on the Xbox, Diablo 3 didn't need it, but this with a good outfit could be amazing. Without a sub it's great. I'm tempted to sub if I find a good outfit. Could be the most expensive free game ever! It's making my Q6600 @3.2 cry a little though
 
About performance - I started to 'notice' my fps more and more recently, in heavy base assaults it was going down to around 35fps and it was bugging me. I read on reddit about 'unparking' your cpu for more performance, so decided to give it a try.

Unparking my cpu and disabling shadows has given me a very noticeable boost. Hard to say exactly, but I'd guess around 10-15 fps. Give it a try and see what you think.
 
Also, Higby answered some questions in a stream he did yesterday. These are the questions/answers paraphrased:

1) Will exp be continent based instead of server? Probably going to change it to be continent based.
2) Will resources gained go back to being global? No.
3) What classes need the most love and have the most features coming? All of them, but especially the Light Assault and close second the MAX.
4) Sticky grenades for Light Assault? Probably not. We are thinking of designing the Light Assault to be more of a lone wolf player/1v1 assassin. We are thinking of making them have ammo scavenging tools. Like gaining ammo after each kill.
5) Will the Light Assault get recon tools like real light infantry? We've thought about that a lot, but right now, all the new recon tools are going to go to the infiltrator, like spotting for artillery (he might be referring to orbital strike).
6) Will Maxes be able to spec to be tankier but lower DPS? Probably, or other interesting customization options.
7) Will the other factions' tanks be brought down to match the prowler's weak level? No. We are going to buff the prowler.
8) What faction's guns are the weakest? NC, by a considerable amount (there was a chance he was being sarcastic).
9) Will there be camo bundles so we can just buy one camo and apply it to everything? In the future, yes.
10) Will the mission system allow for specific missions like "overload this generator." Yes. It will have broad and specific mission capabilities. There will be rewards for completing missions, but not necessarily cert rewards.
11) Will mission system objectives have distance and direction markers on the screen to guide new players? Higby didn't actually answer this one, but someone else in the room (not affiliated with SOE) laughed it off saying it is a noobie idea and a clone of Halo UI. Higby didn't respond.
12) Will Auraxium be coming back? Maybe. Or maybe something similar. There will be big changes coming to resources in the future. No ETA.
13) Will other classes besides HA and MAXes be able to deal with vehicles? Yes. We will add tools so that more classes can deal with vehicles.
14) Will infantry be able to deal with liberators? Yes. Right now only air can kill liberators effectively. We want to add tools to allow infantry to stay infantry and still be able to combat libs.
15) Will there be larger group units than the platoon? Yes. No ETA.
16) Will commanders be able to draw on the map? That feature was built into the game, but not ready.

Performance is killing me, I just rage and quit after losing a 1v1 at 25fps, **** poor coding.

Or maybe it's not bad coding but having 2000 players on a map?

Like PS1, PS2 is at the bleeding edge of technology - we shouldn't be expecting mediocre rigs to be hitting vsync limits. But then again I don't understand how your only getting 25fps when my rig only drops to 45fps in big battles and sits at 60fps vsync the rest of the time :confused:

Lots of interesting info most things seem fairly minor tweaks but I think the most pressing need is optimization, the game runs fairly well but it does chug a little in a big bust ups.
 
God I'm glad they think the MAX needs work, at the moment its basically an AA platform. I want the feeling of panic when I run round a corner and come face to face with an enemy max back. They are just too vulnerable to small arms fire at the moment.

Theyre not even very good at that. Difficult though, you dont want maxes to become killing machines, then it will just be max vs max. I reckon strong front, very weak back would work.
 
Awesome battle last night. TR were defending the Eisa Tech Plant for hours against our VS zerg from the south and NC from the north and our outfit was running round keeping all the surrounding bases clear to assist.

Then since it was late we thought "lets end this!". Loaded up a full shield-defuser sundy with grenade launchers and drove straight through the shield into the middle of the vehicle pads. At the exact same time an NC sundy did the same from the other door! Carnage :)

What settings do you run? I run all high at 1080 and most tech plants and bio labs run at around 30-32 fps. In big battles, I see 25-20, I'm talking 40 tanks here.

CPU usage was 45% at the beginning of the tech test for me and almost 4 months later, we're still at 45%. I just don't know what is taking them so long, it's costing them money as I've already cancelled my sub over it.
