*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

I still don't understand why they was so against giving VS jump packs for their Maxes just like they did in PS1.

Only thing I would make sure is that they don't have enough fuel to fly as high as Light Assaults so they couldn't fly to some really cheesy spot with AA Maxes.

I do agree that TR's lol-down mode on our Bursters is damn right awesome, tears aircraft apart.

Thing is if you will look at it from a non-TR perspective, that's the one thing TR didn't need more ability in. With normal bursters and near universal use of strikers any TR airspace with non-braindead players in is practically a no fly zone for NC.

Is our Strikers really that bad for you?

Everyone has access to Lock-On launchers so even if the Striker wasn't in the game, you still be getting locked-on, though I do admit that I bate aircraft with one missile then fire the other 4 after his flares are used.

It's the same for TR, whenever I fly over a platoon size battle, I get none-stop lock on.

I don't use flares anymore so sometimes I get caught out if I can't auto-repair fast enough or dive in some cover.

Put it this way, they put the annihilator in, non stop whining for ages got it nerfed. Striker is simply a better annihilator (pre-nerf). As it locks on to ground vehicles as well air your heavy assault have no reason to carry anything else unless they're in a bio lab. It's got great range, great damage, is used in massive numbers as everyone seemingly has one to hand and involves no skill to use (as with all lock ons) so is extremely effective no matter who is using it.

So if you think it's bad as TR it's insane for us. Way way way too much lock on in this game, ground, air, everything.

I agree the Striker seems to be far too much, and I have no idea why they thought adding so many lock on launchers was a good idea. Limiting it's ability to lock vehicles moving over a certain speed would help aircraft and fast moving vehicles from being constantly locked by it.

Double xp this weekend. Should be live now.

Have enough certs to max out the Aegis Shield for the NC max but just can't bring myself to spend them. I can't shake the feeling it's a gimmick item which will be useless most of the time....perhaps I'll just dump the 2k certs into my Vanguard instead.

But yeah, double xp, get out there and shoot Terrans.

Some of my clan are raving about the aegis shield once you dump a few certs into it, seems to be able to soak up an obscene amount of damage.

I dont want top put ideas in your head as I play VS. But I imagine sticking four aegis maxes around a squad of infantry (engineers, medics, and the odd heavy or two) and you effectively have a walking self sustaining shield wall.

I know people keep coming up with these fantasy ideas of shield walls like we're suddenly going to turn into the Spartans at Thermopylae but I just don't think it's workable in real conditions, nor is it strong enough or big enough and frankly you're going to be really juicy slow moving clumped together c4 targets because that's all I'd be thinking if I was faced with it, sure you will die in the process but think of the xp. At the same time I'm tempted because it's all we're going to get...

What's a good "starting" clan at the moment? Played a lot of PS1 back in the day and had a dabble with PS2 but didn't really get overly hooked on it.
Had some good times with a decent amount of platoon based play so that's probably the difference.

What server/faction are you?

Outfit member bias - If you're NC on Miller (or willing to move) Digital Legion is very welcoming for new players. Mix of PS1 vets and newer players, mostly UK/Scandinavia. Generally run a couple of squads most nights with more on event nights and quite often run with other NC outfits for more platoon action.

Colleague at work runs with DL, although not sure she plays Planetside anymore. Seemed friendly, although they took so long to get back to me, I found another bunch of guys to go with instead :-)

DL are a good bunch and my Smurf Assault Squad run joint ops with them. :D

Will admit I've not spent long enough in game to get beyond BR... 6/7 somewhere around there so quite happy to start fresh pretty much anywhere. I'll give em a look.

I'd watch out for Miller tbh, it's always had some pretty severe population problems, particularly to do with the TR. The only thing it ever had going for it was the overall server population but now it doesn't even have that with both Cobalt and Woodman have more players and better balanced faction populations. Miller is easily the worst server EU.

Don't really see a problem with population.

It changes all the time, only a few hours ago Indar had 61%+ Pop while TR and NC was at around 20%+ something.

During prime time, one faction might be a little % over the others which is just like any other game, player numbers change.
