Totally missing playing this game. Haven't played in at least 9 months now. Sucks. Since they made the performance patch, what is the minimum recommended spec? I used to run an i5 with gtx 480 which ran lovely (I left before perf omfg patch).

I spend the usual £9 a month, and two packs. One was the £4.99 one with a Underboss which I really wanted which is on Steam, and the fresh meat starter pack, which in retrospect I'd happily pay a tenner for as the SMG is one of my most used weapons.

I'd forgotten about those, yes they're excellent for new players, especially the one with the PDW.

As far as I know they haven't issued any new guidance on that. But I'd expect you to see some improvement if you last played pre-omfg, everyone in my outfit did and that's a huge variety of specs. Hossin isn't fully optimised yet so some parts of it have poorer performance and the European servers have some lag issues at the moment after the merge but if you're playing on say Emerald (US-east) you shouldn't have that.

The game runs smooth as butter on my system (see sig) maxed out at 1080p. Even large fights it copes surprisingly well.

I'm also looking to join an outfit. I'm an NC on Miller, I have a mic and a TS server in case that's needed. I'm more of a support player in that I have a decently specced sundy and my repair tool is almost fully certed. I do enjoy killing and sometimes I do have great sessions but if I'm not "feeling it" I simply go into support mode and ensure that everyone has ammo and a good spawnpoint.

I suck at flying still, I can fly around quite well but as soon as I get attacked by other aircraft I either have to run or die as I can't dogfight for poo.

If you have a spot open let me know!

Well I'm in WASP and we're recruiting. You need to be 18+ put some effort into your application on our forums and be willing to learn and follow squad leader's instructions basically. If accepted there is a trial period where you can see if you like us and vice-versa.

Currently we have three weekly ops nights but this will probably increase once summer is over. If online and an op is running you're expected to run with the outfit and its preferred if you can attend at least one op a week. We normally have 3-5 squads in each op and try to run combined arms so you can try a little of everything or just play your preferred role. Other than that its a nice community, good mix of nationalities and people who can help you with any aspect of the game.

yeah I picked up the fresh meat one and love the SMG but can't really see myself spending £20-30 on anything else really

Diddums, check out 151st.co.uk for NC on Miller.

Qel: I will be playing on Miller as my old outfit is European. Unless lag is really bad I will be likely to play with them again.

Was wondering if I could get away with a phenom x4 955 or something?

has anyone spent any money on this? is anything worth it?

I have likely spent a few £200+ on this game, that includes 6+ months membership and monthly renewing, the rest is station cash purchases.

Don't spend anymore now since I buy weapons with certs unless items are having a SC deal.

If you know you are playing long-term, like a year or more then buying stuff with cash now is worth it since you can use your certs to unlock stuff.

If one of the other Outifts doesnt quite tickle your fancy. Give us a shot we run OPS Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. We have at least a squad or two up each evening and we run public platoons once a week.

Yeah my bro used to play on a 955, just drop render distance very low and shadows off, particles low, flora low etc

You can change colours.

It's free so why not download it and try it.

Bit underwhelming if you can only change the units/facilities, I didn't even know there were timers for redeploy / instant action until messing about with my vga settings (its more or less invisible)

I'm not fussed about the game being free or not I was just looking for a decent mmofps to cut my teeth on, and I have an SOE account from the other year which is loaded up with station cash (nvidia promotion)

PS2 does actually seems like a really good game.. what disappoints me (aside from formentioned accessability limitations) is the irregular downtime/maintanence, and issues with login servers... plus you can't use SOE's own currency for all access (unless I've missed a step), or even full paypal support for it.

Well you can change the factions colours in terms of how they're displayed on the map and icons above players/vehicles heads and on the mini-map. When in a platoon (group of 2-4 squads) you can also change all of the squad's colours.

If I'm reading it correctly you're wondering if you can buy a subscription with station cash? then no you can't. Last time I checked though PayPal was working when buying all access or station cash through soe.com at least, not sure about in game.

Login issues are an annoyance for everyone at the moment, they are working on it and for me at least it seems to be getting better. The amount of maintenance lately has been more than usual due to this.

Hope you persevere with it I know it can be very frustrating at times, heck I've recently had a month long break from it. Once you find an outfit that you fit in well with and get comfortable with a set of weapons the game can be very fun to play with lots of possibilities for what you can do.

You kind of answered your own question here.
The subscription price is the only guaranteed income SOE has, it is on promotion occasionally but not often.
It makes zero sense for them to allow you to purchase a sub with SC , since they give SC away for free for a tonne of promotions AND also give SC away as part of the sub.
