*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

you guys and girls decided what faction your sticking with? before you lot seem to be pretty much exclusive to T.R. (supresses a giggle), and was wondering if you though of changing sides to the winning side..

TR born and bred!

had a skim over thread, is this going to one big verse' or instanced 32/64 players maps?

Massive scale combat - although PS was 133 (399 total) players per cont, they say PS2 will be 1000+v1000+v1000+.

looks interesting, graphics and gameplay dont seem like a massive improvement over anything else but such a massive online battle might be spectacular if done right.

Graphics don't bother me, don't play games because they're "pretty". The gameplay is/was immense in PS and can only see PS2 being even better.

Out of all the MMOs I have ever played, nothing comes close to the fights I've had in Ultima Online and Planetside - probably due to the fact it was PvP from the start.

hope the have another galaxy, loved loading that out with the clan and cappin bases all night.

The Galaxy is truly a sight to behold. It is a heavily armored air transport that can fly into enemy air space and drop up to 12 soldiers, making this vehicle an invaluable strategic asset. The Galaxy is equipped with the innovative "Hot Drop" system which automatically encapsulates any soldier or MAX unit that bails out with a protective barrier that slows their fall. This system removes the bulkiness and complications of using parachutes. The Galaxy can also be deployed into a forward base when landed. When deployed, respawn tubes and equipment terminals become active, creating a forward staging and fall back point for infantry. Additionally, the four weapon systems on the Galaxy can still be operated while deployed, giving it some static defenses.

Can players still access the U.S. servers?

Under the new partnership between SOE and ProSiebenSat.1 Games, European players of the above mentioned SOE games will be able to play via ProSiebenSat.1 Games's service and will not have access to U.S. servers. However, existing EverQuest II players in Europe that have played on U.S. servers before the transition will be allowed to continue playing on those servers through their SOE accounts.

Can U.S. players log on to the European servers?

U.S.-based players will have access to the U.S. servers only.

So, SOE may now be region locking all existing/new games due to their partnership with ProSiebenSat.1.

It's caused major uproar - still need more clarification.

Oh look, it's Unreal Battle Combat Tournament 7.

Jetpack users will get highly annoying very quickly - bunnyhoppers are a long standing pet hate of mine. And spawning on squad leaders I'm not a fan of either.

I'd like to see more of an overview of the bases. One thing that I enjoyed in PS1 was there was a distinct difference between outdoor & indoor combat (I'm ignoring the caves as I hated them)

The bases looked too open in that video. They seem to have lost the closed-in feeling you got when going inside. Maybe other bases are different.

Going by those 4 videos it seems just like a blend of Unreal Tournament & Battlefield.

Higby stated that he wanted the base fights to be more open and not the narrow spamtastic type PS has currently. You can easily distinguish the difference between the outdoor and indoor battles.

Jetpack users will not be much of a problem if you can aim... It will be balanced out.

The game actually looks awesome and I for one welcome it. Although it does have certain "BF/CoD" features, this is a must in today's standards so no big deal tbh.

One thing im not keen on is the squad leader spawn thing...surely that can cause massive problems?

E.G - Squad leader at hack console solo, rest of squad spawns on him?

or have I not got this right?

No, according to Higby, squad spawning is only available when the leader is outside.

Nope, I'm IronMole. ;)
