You get 45 free days for any SOE owned account, and got to be used before the 31st August (IIRC), it starts the moment you login.
As for the mouse lag issue, make sure you use MarkC's W7 mouse fix or CheeseMouseFix for Vista/XP. Also make sure Vsync is disabled in PS/GFX drivers.

It's ok in the evenings, as there's quite a few old faces from Werner on. Decent fights the past few nights that I've logged in.
Morning / early afternoon is full of mostly CN & PLA players warping around, or taking full clips while they are afk.
No offence intended, but boy some of them skip across your screen like a broken strobe light

Really recommend people who are interested resub (you might be lucky and get a beta key!).
Make sure you join a decent outfit or make an OCUK one because from experience the game is 1000x better.

How come I've never played or even heard of this game?
Cos it never got the marketing it deserved. Most players are people who just "found" it on a shelf in a store or from word of mouth.
It was nice the three factions had different weapons that were pretty amazing.
TR = Pounder? Max, the nade spamming machine was epic at holding backdoors.
NC = Jackhammer, most annoying weapon to go up against
VS = Magmower, before they nerfed it or Lasher
There was nothing funnier than standing on a hill one second and being mown down by a silent tank the next
The Pounder was awesome when it was the AI variant!
From 2.36 from play. Not bad tbh, it's a good game in itself, just dated graphics. Believe me when I say the gameplay more than makes up for that
BTW.. I'm not sure you need the 'core combat' version either? I assume you get that free nowadays?

Yes, but I though the accounts were pretty much free. You just had to "subscribe" but that wouldn't take affect until your 30 free days are up.
So you can pretty much cancel your sub once the account is active.
I may be wrong because I haven't created a PS account since release.
I'm going to keep my sub open, for the sake of £8 it's nothing.
Planetside 2 sounds good on paper, apart from a few things (damage/customizations) and if implemented right will be a great game. They've changed the whole combat mechanics and modernized it which I'm quite happy about.
Although it's a big change compared to PS1, I think it's for the better.

Nah, hopefully they have a decent engine this time round. Don't forget PS is still running in DX8.
The pop locks, although awesome is starting to **** me off. Bad lag and major hit detection problems. Takes me around 50 bullets to kill an agile with an MCG, and that's if I don't get 2 shotted by a JH or gibbed by Lasher before!
How will it ruin the game when they are purely aesthetic? they have stated bought items will not provide a player any power benefits over those that don't buy.
Oh, and that screenshot fired up my nerd excitement - glad to see the bases are even bigger
I stated buying weapons/armor/mods will ruin the game.
If they stick to the way Guildwars work - purely aesthetic then it will be fine.
