Having anti-air max's is crucial to defence, especially when there is an attempted zerg in progress. If you don't get the MAX AA up in-time, you are screwed and your guys are spawned camped, allowing your infantry at the front to not be reinforced. We coordinate max AA, as soon as a plane appears it's being picked off. We may not get a kill but it often gets assists later. That is part of team work. I don't need the glory in particular... only the glory celebrating with the Outfit :-) I play the game to have fun, not to brag about my ranks or certs. (Although certs are obviously useful.)

Frankly... I'm not that obssessed with the game that I play it 24/7, so sometimes, I'm not even certain of area's on the map and have to recheck etc... or I don't automatically know where a shield generator is at a station. I find the maps really quite unclear at times.
 
Kill death ratio being tracked is meaningless IMO & is not an accurate yard stick by which to judge someones skill, a half decent sniper who just sits back & does not support the team is likely to have a much more favorable K/D ratio than say an engineer/medic who risks himself to repair a damaged vehicle/injured player, we almost need an award for dieing in the line of duty or just an xp reward for playing your role.
 
Thing that is just crazy at the moment and is ruining the 'epicness' of the game: Render distance.

Sometimes it's down to as little as 20 metres... it's just crazy. I'm sitting up on the crown, and I can see tanks etc, but I cannot see any infantry. I keep hearing on the comm's about how crazy it is..and it's only when I go down there, and it's a total crap storm of enemy troops that are not rendering. Totally ridiculous. I could be giving support from higher up, but I can't even them to shoot them.

If the game can't cope with even medium amounts of players in a fight, then it's in serious danger of failing.

You can force render distance to be set for a certain distance, I'm not sure how though I'm sure I saw someone post about it earlier in this thread.

I think Scougar is referencing infantry render distance which is not adjustable client side and currently isn't working as well as it could. Terrain render distance is freely adjustable in the UserOptions.ini lots of people adjust it to improve FPS.
 
K/D is meangingless, SPM isn't, its what your character progression is based upon. SPM differs wildly between roles and is flat out biased towards finding the lamest ways to farm large amounts of infantry.

I couldn't agree with this more, all K/D does on the leaderboard is encourage mindless ways of racking up kills and is NO indication to how people contribute to pushing territory for your empire.
Sadly I have been doing that myself a bit (hypocrite!) - not all the time though, I love fighting with maxed out platoons swarming over our enemies, but when you do that you don't get lots of kills, and it hurts my "precious" k/d ratio that I seem to unfortunately care about so much (I honestly wish they just removed it - then I wouldn't give a toss about dying repeatedly and could enjoy the game for what it's meant to be).

I would like to see the system they had in PS1 for this, have an optional toggle K/D/stats showing for the session you're playing, but just show score and kills (no deaths or K/D) on the leaderboard - with more emphasis on score/captures/objectives.

Agree with this 100%. Standing on the bridge south of crown, and I cannot see NC at the other end except in sporadic flashes. Its pointless being a sniper there. This happens to some degree at every major fight, needs fixing badly.
 
I'm pretty sure a lot of the K/D ratios on the leader-board are incorrect. Because it says a lot of people have 2000+ kills and 9 (or very few) deaths.

The reason I say it's incorrect is because it says one of my friends has one of these types of ratio, but when I ask him what he actually has, his amount of deaths are different but his amount of kills are correct.
 
Is it just me or was the Mossie rocket spam unbearable? I came across one TR dude battle rank 64 and his KD Ratio according to planetside universe was 64/1. When you can rake up a KD ratio like that something needs to be nerfed, so glad the flyboys are getting their XP rockets nerfed this week.

People complain that the rockets are too strong, but if you start to fly and spend a decent few days or even a week flying, you really understand that you spend more of your time flying away, landing and repairing and rearming then killing anything.

My flying days are like this when there is Anti-Air weapons in the area. Fly over, find a target, hit it maybe once or twice with two loads of 16 rockets (When I have 70 rockets, so half the time am not even using most of my ammo up), get almost raped by the Anti-Aircraft fire. Fly away, land and repair and rearm all for the joys of maybe doing 50% to 70% damage on a tank who by the time I have left the area, he has already repaired and back in the fight if he hasn't been killed by anyone else.

If there is no Anti-Air weapons in the area, then I should be able to kill the tank or whatever am hitting but even then it's hard work making sure you fly at the right height, get the right angle on the moving target that is trying to move behind hills or buildings and then with all the rockets hitting him, you can't really see the target anymore unless you switch to nightvision which I find bat**** crazy since the range on it is so small. :S

But all that can be easy be stopped if a other enemy flyer or a AA max starts chasing me.

I can really do more damage in my tank then flying, but I really enjoy flying and it allows you to sneak behind the enemy lines and hit vehicles in the rear or get the ones that have pulled back to repair.

A lot of flyers, just keep attacking from the front. :/

Anyway, I still say the Vanu are the most OP'ed damn faction ever, their flipping weapons kill me in less then a blink of a eye.

Decided to give me TR a go on Miller for half an hour or so. Love the Prowler so got one, 29 kills and 0 deaths. Love it, then an allied prowler spawns, auto drives out and slams me into a building. Boom :(

Anyway, will be playing on Miller a bit more now, my outfit on Woodman are ok but not active enough in squad play.
 
Uninstalled this today as it wasn't my cup of tea and I don't have the patience with massive games like this any more. Running around for half an hour seeing no one just to get shot from behind and doing the same thing over and over again, can't be arsed with it.

Honestly until they finally decide to buff it you're better off getting the Mauler or Piston, you can use them on every class except Infiltrator whereas the Jackhammer is Heavy Assault only and isn't really any better than them currently.

i sort of have that problem with battlefield. I much prefer the modes were you rush to the objective because you know where the battle is going to be happening
