Bloody hell the NC shotguns are crap, I sure that max scatter cannon heals all wounds, the Klob from goldeneye was a more reliable weapon. :(

Huh? The NC shotguns rule - as long as you are up close. The NC Scatter max is about the only weapon in the game that can instakill any infantry regardless of health or upgrades - as long as you are within 5-10 meters.

The NC get a bad rap - you just gotta play smart and get in close and ownage is yours.

its been a while since i played this i did the beta and ruled haha. now i find when i log on i spend most of my time dead haha i stay with large groups and not many people die haha. i am the NC and i did love them but i am considering moving team as my friends have stoped playing. any advice wud be great and what do i spend my points on first as i have no clue haha. also when using the aircraft is it worth using a joystick ?

Joystick or air is just terrible i found, much easier with the mouse once you get the hang of it, mind you i cant fly a Lib for some reason.

I found that binding pitch up and pitch down to my mouse side buttons helps when it comes to flying. Just roll to the left or right and hold one of the buttons to do a tight turn.

I am proper crap at this game :( It is good fun though, although as a F2P'er (and a new one at that!) I find myself getting outgunned a lot by sub's and people who have just progressed far past me. But it is no more a hinderance than say BF or COD really. The vehicles are a nightmare to control though!

Keep at it you dont need much in order to keep up

I play NC (or hard mode as it should be known) Im BR 19 , i currently have about 700 certs i need to spend and havent. all ive upgraded is my shield as HA to level 4 and bough the gd22s for 100 certs and give it the grip and 2x sight. which all in all probably cost about 400-500 certs.

now with this i have no problem killing anyone or anything, and with a rocket launcher on my back i also take out maxes and tanks with ease.

I think I am only BR 4 or 5 I think, I will need to clock up some more certs :D

If you see a liberator waiting for a crew, hop in it, great way to rack up some kills, and as we all know! Kills Mean? Prizes! sorry, certs.

So, I left my old Outfit today, only ever has about 5 people on line out of about 450 members.

Joined up to Iron Pulse, VS Outfit on Woodman. Within 5 minutes of joining, I was part of about 6 full galaxys, dropping in on the enemy, then all getting magriders & armour support, and then going onto some great infantry action.

I think I made the right decision :)

I've been squadded/plattooned with Iron Pulse on Woodman quite a lot as well. They are a great bunch, and you can have some amazing fun running around with them.

Had a brilliant battle the other day at Quartz Ridge where we did a coordinated galaxy drop with maxes etc. Was totally amazing.

There is NO OTHER GAME that even comes close to what PS2 gives us today. I'm constantly staggered by the game whenever I get into a large battle - It's simply amazing.

The original game did the exact same thing way back in 2003. It was so far ahead of its time that I spend the next decade being disappointed in everything that came out :p

I must admit i'm struggling to get into this like i did PS1 (admittedly i've only dropped in for a few quick sessions). It just doesn't seem as well made and the whole cert change is pretty bad too.

Stick with it, but get into an outfit. It really does begin to shine after a while. The only thing that bugs me in comparison to the original is the flight model, and the fact that you can't remap the flight controls properly. But some of the infantry battles are pure planetside :)

Also I miss the certs that leaders could get in PS1. There was some sort of Ion Cannon type thing they could call down from the sky among some other pretty cool things that I believe got added in, in patches a year or so after release.

They'll definately be expanding on the squad leader cert line and adding orbital strikes to it at some point in the future.

I did some googling and found some videos of the old orbital strike.

I remember the feeling of ARGGGGH! RUUUUUUN! when you heard the noise beginning. Was brilliant.

General performance increases, particularly for lower end GPUs
Experience (XP) system enhancements:
Dynamic XP system for player kills, players who have more kills on their current life are worth more XP. Freshly spawned players will be worth a fraction of the current kill reward.
Partial damage XP for dealing damage to vehicles that you don't end up killing
Population XP / Resource bonus moved over to continent population instead of global
Better display of XP sources for things like defensive bonuses & population bonuses
Rebalancing of XP rewards to help support tasks
Server transfer token available in Depot
UI changes to emphasize score per minute as a primary metric of player comparison
Sortable columns on outfit management & addition of "last online" column
New weapon type for all empires: SMG
Short period of invulnerability will be added to freshly spawned / revived players - breaks upon game actions such as entering a vehicle or using a weapon.
Dynamic / player configurable colors for minimap & overhead indicators for enemies, friendlies, and squads within a platoon
New Hot Spot system that displays where active fights are occurring on the map
New spawn buildings with more exits, protected balconies and easy roof access to make them less campable.
Tunnel systems for amp and tech facilities to give access from spawn rooms to interior of bases and base walls without having to go above ground.
Making MAXes render more reliably at long distances for players in vehicles
AA improvements, notably flak changes for turrets and skyguards, giving them some better ability to aim, although not drastically impacting their DPS.
Fixes to missiles so that they more reliably detonate and actually blow stuff up
Air vehicle weapon tweaks
Increases to reload speed for certain HE ground vehicle weapons
And of course... lots of bug fixes

Yummy.
