**Official Portal 2 thread**

I am amazed that people are still playing it for the first time, where have you been for the last few years? :p

I only watched 60 seconds of the opening and I hate that robot already. I hope it's not going to be with you throughout the entire game. I'll have to play with the sound off otherwise.

Yeah I was annoyed by it too. I would have preferred if it was a version of Glados' voice, like the little sentry robots had in Portal. Then the little pod thing would be like "the daughter of Glados" or her "good sister", something like that. Then it would be a cool flip side to the first game, where the female AI is actually your ally rather than enemy.

Just chucking it out there that all that recent impressive looking media is created by pre-rendering game assets with the new Source Filmmaker tool if you can find some of the actual ingame footage (which Valve are not keen to highlight for obvious reasons) the game looks really dated from what I have seen so far the new lighting scheme they added looks out of place & a little strange!

Think I will wait until its released now & hear what others have to say about it rather than chance buying another dated dud (like L4D1+2).

Are you for real? You wont buy a game because it is not at the cutting edge of graphics?

Since when was portal about graphics?

I was a bit concerned about the graphics after seeing the opening gameplay. I saw the room the character was in and it looks just like L4D graphics :(. It was only when some light started streaming in that it looked cool, but maybe that was because they were using that movie making tool.

Graphics aren't everything, but I was hoping this would be a big step up for Valve games. After seeing Rage, Brink and BF3, I was expecting the graphics on this to be of a similar level.

Yeah it's not 2 hours the first time tho lol took me bloody ages to get used to it. But to be fair i am getting through portal pro quicker than i thought. Some of the secret stages are quite hard tho

Lucky for you. I could only figure out how to get 1 (Ride) of the cakes and it didn't unlock a secret chamber either so i'll probably have to go do it again. Pretty sure i only even saw 3 cakes and 1 of them i just couldn't figure out how to reach at all.
